I get why the Everton fans are annoyed. Same as ours were against Norwich.

 

But the Premier League is trying to mitigate the complaining from other clubs about playing an opposition's first team whilst teams near them played a depleted side with kids on the bench. All this is really doing is moving a fixture pile-up further down the road but you've seen the fuss kicked up whenever teams deliberately make wholesale changes (think Liverpool at Fulham about 15 years ago) so allowing matches with 9-10 teenagers in squads isn't going to pass quietly.

The rules are stupid, but they are right if you are going to let people call games off with Covid.

We had Albrighton at RB, Choudhury at CB, a youth team debutant in midfield, three wingers and no striker starting.

 

We have Justin, Fofana, Thomas, Castagne, Bertrand, Evans, Soyuncu, Benkovic, Amartey, Pereira, Ndidi, Soumare, KDH, Iheanacho, Vardy & Daka missing.

The Premier league should never have allowed any games to be postponed in the first place. They dug themselves into a whole with this whole integrity of the game argument and longer term it won't help either us or our opposition as these rearranged games will be squashed into a tighter schedule!

Everybody is running scared of playing Burnley. I can't think why, because on the rare occasions we do play, we're playing rubbish. Everton, Villa, and Watford have all cried off so far. Maybe we'll be in some sort of form when the matches come round. 

 

Everton were supposed to play us on Boxing Day but had 11 injuries and covid among their 26 outfield players. They appealed for a postponement and were turned down. Then overnight on the 23rd they developed two more "injuries" and the game was off. 

 

So any objections they have to this postponement, are the objections of hypocrites, fools, cheats, liars, and buffoons.

I think Castagne and KDH should be back as they were only doubts for yesterday's game. Soumare was ill, so he should be back, as well. Not sure what's up with Thomas. I think Soyuncu and Daka are the least likely of those to return, as we all know how accurate Brendan's predictions are.

 

I think if we have 13 senior outfield players available, then we have to play. If we get 5 back, then we'll have enough.

For some reason they're really taking offence to us playing to the rules. 

Maybe we should have had false positives like Liverpool did, managed to avoid all scrutiny for them

Yes that’s how I see it too - we need 5 back to make 13. Also - what about Bertrand? Could he be back?
 

Will be interesting to see if we ask for a postponement if we only have 4 back.

Squashed into a tighter schedule when hopefully teams have a larger number of EPL 'nominated' players fit and available.

We won’t want players coming back with muscle pulls  to have to play twice in four days 

 

even if we have to play all the games now, would expect cags and patson to miss spurs. So we will still be struggling. The boys who are fit should be no issue at all playing sat, sat, wed, sat

@The Bear - you still didn’t reply to my point about your postponement last month 

you only needed one covid case to get the game called off because you had eight injuries and a small squad 

 

Am I wrong ??
