England have played well from about the 35 min mark, Bellingham, Foden and Kane all great.

Leicester bias and even merit aside I think not bringing on Maddison, Gallagher or Coady is a mistake from Southgate. I thought the same thing when he didn’t bring Chilwell on in the Euros, it just strikes me as purely self-defeating. Mount, Grealish etc don’t need more underwhelming minutes for England in a game like this, the upside you get from bringing in Maddison both from what he can offer and the morale boost for him and probably those around him far outweighs the benefits of giving a bit more game time to established squad members. Doesn’t come across as inclusive at all.

There's been a few top players who've been overlooked over the years, like Le Tissier, Bruce, Fowler. If we win it, nobody will care, but if we don't there'll always be that hanging over Southgate of what if he gave Maddison a chance.

England v France next Saturday 7pm should be a good one.

Huge game. I’m proper excited about it tbh.

Problem is Southgate turns to the same subs….. he’s showing his predictability. Unless Madders is actually unfit, there’s no logical reason for not bringing him on. They’re 3-0 up, cruising and have a chance to tinker a little bit.

So far the games England have played have been fairly straight forward, France will be a different beast, and I just don’t think Gareth has utilised his squad as well as he could have.

Just my thoughts.

He's just using players he will likely call upon, and making sure they have decent fitness.

I do hope Madders is actually fit. Selfishly I'm happy for him to not get a kick if he comes home rested and healthy.

Surely being picked for a WC squad and not getting any minutes, while watching less deserving players in ahead of you, will mean he'll come back and not be in the best place mentally?

I'd have brought Maddison on purely to boost his match fitness, ironically he'd be more likely to come on v France if we need a goal and are chasing the game.

For everyone who's upset about Southgate's treatment of Maddison (me too) saying they hope France win (not me too).. remember - if we win the World Cup Southgate will most likely retire (if he's got any sense).

Sooner Southgates axed the better. Then qw can stop the charade he's anything but a poor manager.

Do you think fans of the other 71 league clubs are saying the same thing after the tournament's best record after 4 games? Or is it just because he's not playing someone that plays for your club that you're crying?

But is that equally too predictable? Especially when this team hasn’t really been challenged yet?

Mbappe will be a terror, need a man constantly on him to cancel him out, like Pontus did all those years ago in our cup final with Boro

Senegal have been disappointingly pants TBF.

France are different gravy. I still worry about England’s backline especially against Mbappe who’s not bad.

No disrespect but Senegal have players who cant even get in Citys team, Sheffield utd  and Bristol City!

France have Mbappe, Griezmann  and that bloke who does the cinch adverts

Shame for madders, would have been better off not getting selected and going on that golfing holiday with Thomas and KDH.

obviously turning up injured didn't help. But it's painfully clear Southgate doesn't like him for some bizarre reason. Not that I hold it against Southgate he's the one that's going to get publicly mocked and hounded if it goes tits up so its his perogative to pick who he likes especially if the team keep winning and playing well at major tournaments.
