Esteban's not coming back

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure why as it does seem to have been obvious. If he really wanted to come back he would have been here already, so there has been plenty of time to get used to the idea. Like many, I'm very sorry to see him go but he's not irreplaceable. The big difference last year was bringing Huth in (at least for me anyway) and getting him on a perm has been great business this summer.

Dont get me wrong we will miss his quality and more so his leadership and winning mentality, but providing the club land one of the good crop of midfielders we seem to be chasing then we will crack on

Ive just heard that complete dickwad stringer trying to stir the shit and almost every fan seems to be taking it their stride as an expected scenario...keep calm LCFC and carry on!

Here here!

That public ultimatum turned out well....

I can absolutely see the point in giving him an ultimatum. Now we KNOW that we need another high-quality central midfielder and have more time to acquire one.

I can't see the point in making it public, though.

It might have made no difference as he might have other plans/offers, might have felt that his mission was done or might not have fancied working with Ranieri again. But he doesn't strike me as someone who'd take kindly to being given a public ultimatum, so it's possible that it DID make a difference, in a bad way. He certainly responded pretty sharpish once the public ultimatum was issued - and it's not as if he's a stupid man who wouldn't have realised that LCFC would need time to find an alternative if he dithered for months and then decided to go elsewhere, or an immoral man who wouldn't have cared.

I hope it wasn't a case of Ranieri seeking to show that he's a "strong leader". Likewise, I hope that the club made Cambiasso a good offer long before the last 24 hours...

Found this stat on Twitter:

@mikemccarthy: Leicester City won just one Premier League match last season without Esteban Cambiasso featuring in the game.

:o

i imagine a similar stat applies to a lot of our team who played a lot of games.

how many did we win without schlupp, without ulloa, without vardy, without morgan etc etc etc?

Probably because he played most games. There are probably other players with fairly similar stats.

Maybe so, but not sure that's a predictor of next season. New signings, new Manager, squad more experienced etc.

We could be saying the same about his replacement this time next year. .

Yeah, as someone said, he's a legend so the flag stands. Just felt for you, only just got it and he leaves - can you get a Simpson one made asap?

Had a thought, you could advertise your flag as a shrine to the great man. We could all queue up to touch the magic cloth, a bit like the Turin shroud.

(Meant to quote Heggsys post, but I'm crap - thats why I work in IT)

Real shame but thanks for the memories, Cambiasso! So hope he is going abroad, would be hard to take seeing him turn out for Villa or West Ham.

We are seriously short in midfield now. DD and King are hopeless as a pairing, Hammond is injury prone and only a standby, whilst Lawrence is nowhere near ready from what we've seen. Just hope we have a plan B in place.

My info was that he wasn't coming back and I stated that right at the start of the saga

I was told this well in advance of Pearson going so personally think that is a red herring

Next season mid table would be a great result, do you honestly think a bloke like EC would consider that to be the same thing to him when he has only got 1 or 2 seasons left in him ?

Not 100% sure why he didn't just jack at the end of last season other than perhaps he didn't have has many offers on the table he has now

Always difficult comparing players over different generations but don't think I've seen a better player in a LCFC shirt in my time technically speaking as his legs were obviously going a bit. Would have paid a lot of money to watch him in his prime.

Anyway onwards and upwards

We have bid on a number of players and I see this as testing the water. Pretty sure we will up the ante on one or two ...

Fair play to you. I remember you saying it pretty much as soon as the season finished that he wasnt staying.

Is it still Walsh recommending the players to bid on?

Just discussed this with the Mrs. They look really peeved. Read into that, what you will.

I have heard that the atmosphere is very touchy at the moment.

You're desperately looking for something that isn't there?
