Famous people you have met. What were they like? Did any of them play for City? Famous people your mates have met.

Recommended Posts

One of my mates Dad is a famous ex-city defender and is sound. As for other famous people, Peter Shilton was an incredibly nice man. Martin Johnson also a great bloke. Met a few refs through friends of friends, Howard Webb and Andre Marriner are quality blokes as is the non-Leicester fan Kevin Friend. In the showbiz world, like most I've spoke to the Kasabian boys, Tom is a lot more forward than Serge but both equally nice blokes, Kelly Jones from the Stereophonics also seemed nice. Also been out clubbing with several of the bands Peace & Swim Deep if anybody knows of them which was an experience in itself. And finally Greg Davies, who is HUGE, Lee Mack and Rhod Gilbert, the latter buying me a pint after a gig.

The best story however, when I was young (10/11ish) I saw Kevin Blackwell the then Leeds manager at a Leicester game, asked for an autograph only for him to turn around and say he wasn't Kevin but his twin brother and he was a scout to which I immediately thought bullsh*t and never got the autograph. Never really thought about it until this thread came up. A quick google search says he does actually have a twin brother.

I was under the impression that I'd never "met" famous folk (discounting seeing people like Banks on the train).

But then I realised I'd met 3 journalist/writers, and all 3 of them were top guys.

One I met who is also a broadcaster - Guillem Balague - was a great person to meet in person. If you ever get a chance to attend one of his talks/book signings, snatch their hands off.

The other two - Graham Hunter and Sid Lowe - are based in Spain and write on La Liga. Both know their stuff, both are great gents. Apparently Graham has a rep as a party animal too, but that's for someone else to relate.

Paul Dickov purchased a house from my Father in Markfield.

Sometimes see Matt Elliot in a pub in Desford.

Saw Alan Birchenall at Glenfield Hospital the other week, lives in Mountsorrel iirc.

Outside of football, the 'most famous person' are the founders of Dunelm Mill, who started off just on a market stall in Leicester, who the family have known for about 30 years+.

Chelsea game. I used the wc’s opposite the Shipman suite, I think it was. Went in and there were 2 biggish blokes stood in front of the wash basins, and 1 bloke having a slash, went to the urinal next to him and kind of sensed a presence behind me, there were no other folk in there. Glanced sideways at the person next to me, it was Abramovich.  I couldn’t go then:blush:

Walked back into the hotel bar in Madrid after the Athletico game to find Peter Schmichael and family on one table and Robbie Savage and his mates on another. Peter Schmichael was kind enough to let me take a photo of him with my son despite it being midnight! Sat there with my tapas feeling starstruck until after 1am. The champions league was just so amazing! Best memories ever.

Carrying out a landlord gas safety inspection and the occupier was looking over my shoulder all the time which was irritating, so I asked sarcastically if he had an interest in gas appliances to which he replied yes and that he was building a house abroad and showed me some plans, I asked what he did for a living and he told me he was a footballer playing for Leicester City - his name was Lilian Nalis, I hadn't recognised him (I tend not to really look at customers). I told him I thought he'd be brilliant for the club, as good as Muzzy, he was very humble and said Muzzy was a very very good player. Think it was before he scored his worldy. I've done work for the birch and sue Pollard as well

I used to drink with Jamie Foxx sometimes. He is nice as fuchs if you meet him through someone he knows or whatever, but he isn't always the best to people who interrupt him.when he is out. He is good for the first 50 or so, but it starts to wear on him. He presents as this super cool, well-dressed suave dude, but he cannot help.himself, he has to entertain with his comedy, it is like a compulsion, and it is weird to sit down with a famous dude and have him constantly watching your face for approval re his jokes. Just the comedian in him I guess.

I have met and hung out with a fair number of celebrities bc my closest friend is an agent in Los Angeles and has a lot of clients, but Foxx is the only one I became friendly enough with to exchange numbers. Well, technically I was also friendly with Tony Danza for awhile back in, IDK 2000 or so. He was repped by the management company I was at, and we struck up a conversation one day in the lobby, and we would talk sometimes about industry opportunities (he was busting ass on auditions at that point). I had his number, but we weren't really friends, more contacts who would share info when we tried to get staffed on TV shows.

If you want a lesser type of famous, I used to kick it with a bunch of the pro poker players in Vegas who show up on TV -- Antonio "The Magician" Esfandiari, Phil Laak and their crew, tho idk if they count as famous.

Kevin Spacey once flirted with me at a party, but we didn't talk really, I was drunk and straight, so that wasn't happening. But someone spilled something on him, and he looked at me and asked me if he should have him.killed. I chuckled and said something dumb, he introduced himself, but my GF came over pretty fast and he wandered off.

I was staying at the Marriott on Friday night and I thought that I'd probably see the Palace team - who were there, however upon checking-in a chap and his wife came up to reception to ask a question as I looked to my left I thought I know that bloke - It was Claude Puel !  Now I'm going to have to take full and total responsibility for the performance on Saturday since I in-advisably exclaimed to him - "You are doing a great job Claude"  (I had been to the Southampton match so was still on a high after that performance) He said thanks at a level of .5 of a decibels.  Reflecting afterwards on my ill advised praise he probably took that into his team talk. Sincere apologies to all fans. I'll blank him next time!!

I once watched Man Utd v Wolves in a bar on Sunset Boulevard LA with Neil Morrisey around 2002.

We were the only Brits in there and got chatting about football. I was on holiday with the wife and he was discussing a role with some TV exec. We bought each other a couple of beers and he was good as gold.

Not actually spoke to him but for a short period Matt Elliott bought a house right the corner from me in Nuneaton, I seen him once or twice pulling in out of his car remember once his car getting stuck in the ice. Yeah I know amazing story! One bit of trivia I believe his house was bought by the former chairman of Nuneaton Town Ian Neale.

Muzzy Izzett appears quite regularly in O'Neills in the city centre on match days, seems quite a decent chatty bloke.

Many moons ago was on holiday in Crete and we sat in a harbour restaurant.

On the next table was a very reddened faced John Inman and an elderly lady who I assumed was his mother.

Couldn't resist it but had to say to him ..... are you being served ?

Both of them burst out into fits of laughter ... was lovely I thought he might be a bit peed off with it.

I haven't actually met them, but......

They are great conversationalists, make others laugh, at least once a week  share their deepest, deepest thoughts,

with all and sundry.  sometimes they are lined up and patient awaiting like all children at christmas for great and auditious

presents, others seemingly running in desperation around the sofa, not daring to watch the horrors played out before them.

A few begging to be part of the days entertainment, and ready to strip for any chance of being able to get into the

ever babbling, exciting continuous current of streaming..Many ready and willing to give their 'earned the right' opinions.

Every single one of them famous and hardened to the core, all happy clappers..

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you........All members/users of......F O X E S T A L K

a true collection of the Famous- infamous,  a pallifery of glorious story head-liners!!!

Ever noticed how well known folk are either quite small to what you may expect or really tall -eg Prince Phil and Michael Parkinson.

Met most folk from the motor racing world back in the day including Ayrton Senna at Donington -he had two Miss Worlds with him which is just being greedy.

All that money has not made Bill Adderley any happier though.
