lifted*fox Posted 1 September 2017 Posted 1 September 2017 honestly, some of the spite and bitterness in here is laughable.
Vulpine Victor Posted 1 September 2017 Posted 1 September 2017 I do actually feel sorry for Mahrez, he has been very badly advised. He must be feeling very embarrassed. Unless Barcelona come in for him it would seem other clubs share my opinion that he is a skillful player who has only performed consistently for one season. HE is worth more to us than other so called bigger clubs, due to the fact he is one of the few flair players we have who can turn a game when he plays to his best, which unfortunately for him and us isn't that often. Hopefully if he stays with us he will buckle down to prove he is worth a £50 million transfer fee.
lcfc sheff Posted 1 September 2017 Posted 1 September 2017 As far as I'm concerned, Riyad has done nothing wrong. He could have not played a game this season and claimed a back injury like coutinho, but he's not moaned and given his all. He was in Paris/ wherever in case a fee was agreed, nothing wrong with that as he's already stated his desire for a move, while maintaining if no move materialises he'll give his all for us. I swear to god he better not get booed for that. i for one selfishly just want this one season out of him, help us finish top 8 and then move on providing he has the season we know he's capable of having. In the meanwhile let's enjoy him while he's here, as I expect we'll never ever have a player like this again. If if he can repeat 2015/16 form he'll be worth over 100m by next summer, which could do crazy good for this club never mind in terms of a replacement, but imagine the money we could spend on infrastructure. Things are looking so up for this club and everyone seems blind to it.
Livid Posted 1 September 2017 Posted 1 September 2017 Best I've ever seen and barring something out of the ordinary today I'm grateful i'll be able to see him play for a few more months at least. Don't have a problem with him, he wanted to leave, fair enough but he just turned up and played for us. No strop or fake injury in sight.
Bezzanator89 Posted 1 September 2017 Posted 1 September 2017 Does anyone know Riyad Mahrez's current whereabouts? Looking at potential flight departures to Barcelona from Charles de Gaulle airport?
lcfc sheff Posted 1 September 2017 Posted 1 September 2017 Oh also I think we're all mostly in agreement with this one, but mahrez should only be allowed to go Barcelona if he has a great season. It's what he deserves, even if somehow they offered a lower fee than say Chelsea/ Man Utd, he's been a great servant of this club and deserves the chance at his dream.
HankMarvin Posted 1 September 2017 Posted 1 September 2017 Cringe for the mirror http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/chelsea-fan-tweets-riyad-mahrez-11087490

He's had one good season and been looking for the exit door ever since.....hardly the make up of a great servant imo

By mid November he'll be making noises looking to run in January. That is not commitment that's playing for a move. The proof is in the pudding. Mahrez played to a world class level in 2015/16 but after a poor follow up year only Roma thought he worth a £32m bid. The footballing world have him down as a flash in the pan, if he wants his big move he'll have to play like the Mahrez we know and love. A poor few months with Leicester and no one will want him.
Ian Nacho Posted 1 September 2017 Posted 1 September 2017 Hopefully, after the Spanish window shuts tonight he's still here and he would have realised his mistake of last season of not trying, so from now until January he really kicks on and then we can squeeze an extra £10m-£20m out of him.

Drinky only had one good season at the club in the PL but still he was a great servant, even ulloa was a great servant for the club.

The man clearly has some sort of appreciation to the club considering he's not gone on strike like most would

Important to note besides the champions league for both Leicester and mahrez, the entire team played crap; he's not messi, he needs the rest of the team to pull their weight aswell, which funnily enough only happened in the champions league where he shone. Sounds so so simple but if the team plays well mahrez will.

What a waste. yup thats exactly what I'm saying he would get so much more freedom plying for a top team where he's not really expected to contribute defensively... i guess you feel differently???
Finn Claw II Posted 1 September 2017 Posted 1 September 2017 Make him captain in the cup game. for all those calling him inconsistent due to a poor 16/17 season that is true of every single player in our club. They were collectively awful for half a season
Sublime_Coatsworth Posted 1 September 2017 Posted 1 September 2017 I'm chuffed to bits he's staying. Certainly no hard feelings from most fans and I'd like to think none from him either. Bottom line is he knows that if he can regain the form he had in our title winning year he'll get the move he wants, probably in the new year. That's good news for us too - It's a win/win.

CosbehFox Posted 1 September 2017 Posted 1 September 2017 Yep, you'd really annoyed if an Englishman did the same. Even more so considering it's must win for Algeria.
RonnieTodger Posted 1 September 2017 Posted 1 September 2017 With all the ridiculous money flying round at the moment, it absolutely staggers me that nobody has offered more than £32m for him.
MrSpaM Posted 1 September 2017 Posted 1 September 2017 Suspect he told them a deal was definately going to happen when that wasn't the case

I actually think he really likes it here. He’s settled, his family is here, and he appreciates that the club has given him a lot. Whilst he will be disappointed he hasn’t got his dream move, he won’t see being here for another few months/year as the end of the world. Despite his deadline day antics (which were more ‘being available to move’ rather than ‘forcing a move’ in my eyes), he’s showed plenty of character this window. I was one of the biggest critics of his attitude last season, but fair play to the bloke.
