Heaven forbid if they take the lead as well. I'd take any sort of win as we're revolting at the minute. In fairness to us, it was our fourth game in just over a week, two days after a draining game at Liverpool and without Vardy. I'd hope the longer break plus annoyance at the last result will see a better start.

Agree...His performances at CB got him voted into the African Cup of Nations team...but hes never been given a chance to play this role with us. Worth a try. Apart from his moment of madness for the penalty he had a decent game against Man U. If we play Ricardo down the right hand side we need a strong pacy defender behind him. 1

TheMightySystem Posted 17 September 2018 Posted 17 September 2018 (edited) Unpopular suggestion but if we aren't going to go 3 at the back then I think Choudhury would be a good option to play instead of Ndidi. Ndidi has been off the boil a bit recently so him sitting on the bench for a game might give him a bit more focus instead of being an automatic pick. My reasoning for Choudhury instead of Silva or Iborra is that he is the closest to the midfield type that Puel wants. He is defensively minded, has an engine so can cover large areas of the pitch and has a high workrate. One thing I noticed last season from watching him and in U23 games this year is that he tends to sit just infront of the back 2 and alot of the time makes a back 3, playing in a similar role to Dier at Tottenham, when their fullbacks push on he drops into defense in case of a counter. He has a good range of passing as well, in his first few games playing it simple but ended up trying riskier passes in later games and pulling them off, see his assist for Mahrez in the Arsenal game towards the end of the season. In comparison I think Silva is too attack minded for what Puel wants from his DM's, and Iborra isn't quick enough to cover enough ground. Add to the fact that their passing is very hit and miss and I don't see why Choudhury has been demoted to the U23 (although if people want to explain to me why I will gladly listen as I might be too bias towards the young players as I like to see as many local prospects come into the first team as possible). Knowing my history of complaining about player selection though Ndidi, Mendy, Silva and Iborra are going to play in a 4-4-2 diamond and each score a hatrick to shut me up now that I have criticised them. STUHILL Posted 17 September 2018 Posted 17 September 2018 Puel has to change something. We know what most would do on here, but knowing Puel and his history, there won't be a change to formation or style, just a tweak in the starting 11 is the most we can expect from him. I expect Amartey to come in and Pereira to push up, as well as Albrighton back in for Gray. That will probably be enough to beat Huddersfield, but I still think bigger changes will be needed in the future if Puel is to be a real success here.
Gamble92 Posted 17 September 2018 Posted 17 September 2018 Win it by anything less than 2 goals and Puel will have "been lucky with the 3 wins so far' Draw and lose it and my brief return to this cauldron of misery will be short lived. 1

RowlattsFox Posted 18 September 2018 Posted 18 September 2018 Soyuncu or Evans in for Morgan (Preferably Soyuncu for me, but I think it will be Evans) and then same team. Look for a response. Harsh on Albrighton maybe but I don't want to drop Gray after his first really poor performance. If you could pick someone to play after last week it would probably be these or Cardiff at home, but they'll be hard to beat. They'll be organised and defensive and its the first real test on how we deal with that. 1
Woodsey1727 Posted 18 September 2018 Posted 18 September 2018 Evans to come in for Morgan, same team otherwise, maybe bring Albrighton in, then win 2-0 with vardy and gray scoring and everyone singing puel's praise for playing great football

I too think that Choudhury's style would suit us best at the moment to plug our defensive gaps and am surprised how he's dropped down the order this season. Rotting in the u23s will stifle his development and dampen his confidence and enthusiasm, you would think. I also agree with Marutimon & drofmor55 re Amartey. It's a mystery to me why he's not been given a go at CB, given the problems we've had there for more than a season, and given his speed compared with anyone else we have. He has been neglected in that regard by 3 managers, though. The same old chestnut applies to both cases, I guess. Our coaching staff see them in training and we don't. 1
ARM1968 Posted 18 September 2018 Posted 18 September 2018 So let me get this straight. Huddersfield are absolute dog muck away? They can’t buy a win? Can’t score and concede for fun? if Carlsberg did away day fixtures!

We would still have zero pace and mobility at CB. If Puel cannot see this deficiency, then he is entering the final days of his stay here. IMO that would be a shocking selection unless he reverts to 3 CB's.
oxtonfox Posted 18 September 2018 Posted 18 September 2018 I think three at back is something for away games. Wagner will look at how we did against Bournemouth and know what to try so we better be ready for that. But this is a game where we should be asking the questions of them. If we can dominate possession (Puel's maxim) and create enough chances, grab a goal and get a lead we should be OK. Yes get a lead for once and start well please. As to the team, we have enough decent players in the 25 man squad to fashion a decent 11. We know there will be no Wes so he has to do something there; I suspect Evans as a straight replacement like Wolves. I would look to Fuchs as I think that will help Chilwell and Albrighton on the right to cover for Perriera.
worthosoriginals Posted 18 September 2018 Posted 18 September 2018 the only certain thing about this game is, the anti puel brigade will be rooting for a Huddersfield win. then they can spend Saturday night filling foxes talk with venomous threads and posts. 2
