Jamie Vardy Appreciation

I can see him getting another 12 or so this season which would take him to 125ish, regardless of where we finish. So as long as he stays fit and injuries are kept to a minimum over the next 2 years, you have to believe he'll finish up around the 150 mark, maybe even 160.

He needs to surpass micheal owen just for the he isn't a natural finisher comment.

What did he say

Vardy wasn't a natural finisher and something else I believe can't remember what though.

Vardy will never get the credit he deserves for being one the greatest Premier League strikers ever. Shame really.

We all talk about his goals, but his 2 assists last night put him only 1 assist behind Steve Guppy as our all-time top Premier League assist maker.

1. Steve Guppy 34
2. Jamie Vardy 33
3. Marc Albrighton 27
3. Riyad Mahrez 27
5. Muzzy Izzet 26
6. Neil Lennon 18
7. Emile Heskey 17
8. Matt Elliott 14
9. Harvey Barnes 11
9. James Maddison 11
9. Garry Parker 11

It’s not outlandish to think Barnes ends up as our top assister and second highest PL scorer. He’s started 43 league games and got 10 goals and 11 assists in that time

Said that Vardy isn't clinical enough in front of goal & is lucky and relies on fortune for a lot of his goals. Said he only uses power and isn't the 'cute, classy type of finisher'.

Bear in mind it was in 2016 but even so, it was a comment way off the mark.

Massively underrated player, even by Leicester fans IMO. If he had pace, he would have played for one of the top 4, he was that good. I would imagine a lot of those assists are from winning the near post flick on for other to score as conversely to today's team, MON's team featuring Elliott and Tags scored a metric sh*t ton of set piece goals, even though they didn't practice them! Turns out having a great corner taker in Guppy and defenders great at attacking the ball with their heads results in lots of goals.

Elliott was also surprisingly good with his feet too and it wouldn't surprise me if from a corner he played a pass to someone else to score a few times too.

Definitely one of my favorite ever defenders!

i had forgotten about his headers back across the box..

Which is an insane thing to say- to be that consistent and accurate putting so much power on the ball, giving the keeper no chance, takes far more skill than passing into the bottom corner.

I played five-a-side with him two years ago and he was still sending guys for a pie with some of his dribbles.

Brilliant player. Can't imagine he's underrated by City fans though. Those Wortho Cup final goals alone make him a legend

yes it was - I'm not 100% sure if he had that planned or just did it in the moment.

my 2nd one is the goal at WBA where he cupped his ears and skipped around that entire corner.  For some reason it doesn't seem to be on many compilations I see and I can't find it on youtube.  Anybody know the one I'm talking about?

Not the first one in this compilation? https://youtu.be/zBvKmflYfYw

Some of those finishes are outrageous for a defender! That one against Everton, he's so far upfield he makes Fofana and Soyuncu's runs look like child's play!

Love Elliott! Great player and top bloke.

Unless my memory is proving faulty, I seem to recall him having a very successful spell at Centre Forward.

Slightly concerning that after the game he said himself "I'm getting old".

I think Rodgers has managed his game time brilliantly so far, but it's slightly concerning that maybe he's going to need to be rested quite often after this season?

He was joking by that comment

What is he nearly 34 he’s got a couple of seasons left in him as much as the pundits say he uses his pace to get in behind he’s a lot more clever than that and he’s relying on his pace less and less.

Any news on the injury he went off with?

He said himself that it was nothing. I think the same thing happened against Man City and he was fine for the next game.
