Was really looking forward to seeing more of him but at left back, as Barnes thrived without Chilwell it just worked.

I'm starting to wonder about the club’s once-vaunted training and medical staff. This, plus rushing Wilf back with unheard-of speed from knee surgery, which set him back and could have risked the rest of his season. Two proofs that old fashioned "walk it off and get back in" is not always the way to go.

Winchesterfox Posted 12 March 2020 Share Posted 12 March 2020 I feel sorry for Ricardo. From the team's point of view at least Justin is playing well, the end of season is approaching and Coronavirus will probably delay matches. Also it shows the value of keeping Chilwell.

Grebfromgrebland Posted 12 March 2020 Share Posted 12 March 2020 Well at least no one will snatch him off us in the summer now. Also he might not miss many games if there's cancellations. Also James Justin gets a chance.

Two proofs that old fashioned "walk it off and get back in" is not always the way to go. If the player says he's ok, in the heat of a Premier League football match you can't determine whatsoever whether he's got an injury to a ligament buried deep in his knee, and therefore he carries on. I'm not sure what time the challenge was exactly to know if we had subs left, but they'd probably have gone to 10 men if they had any doubts over whether he could continue. It's just an unfortunate one that's probably aggravated as he's gone about his daily business and continued to walk on it. Ndidi was fit to play on the basis of people with degrees and doctorates in this stuff, and it's not as though players have not come back from those sorts of injuries in that time frame before. Kante did a grade II hamstring tear and was back within a week or something stupid, it is possible. And to be fair, Ndidi was hardly out for that much longer after he felt his knee go again. Vardy has had troubles but they are minor injuries and it's one of those where we all were prepared to risk him against Villa in particular if it meant Wembley. He's had a rest like Wilf and now he's back fully fit (knock on wood etc.). Our injury record in general is still very good. We only have players out for one or two games most of the time. Ricardo, Amartey and James are the only major injuries I can think of in the last 5 or 6 years. Most of the medical staff, if not all of them (Paul Balsom, Dave Rennie, Simon Murphy, Matt Reeves, Tom Joel, Mitch Willis etc.) have been here since Pearson or even before. So all of the guys that have brought us that injury record and high level of fitness are still here. 4

dannythefox Posted 12 March 2020 Share Posted 12 March 2020 Gutted about this but we’re lucky to have Justin got a proper footballing brain as well. He’s so switched on in the games hes played in he’ll be a proper player for us in the future and I’m sure he’ll be rubbing his hands together at this opportunity. He does have previous with Tierney.

Can kind of remember a rough 50/50 and Grealish coming in a tad late but that's all really. Media pieces above seem a tad overkill if there's no evidence to base it on, like if the same happened with Targetts leg breaker on Ricky earlier in the season we had the clip to back our disgruntlement up on the day. Spudulike Posted 18 March 2020 Share Posted 18 March 2020 I think we all know what Klopp's reaction would've been if it was a Liverpool player. Or perhaps that's only a media distraction ploy to shift attention from his own players 'antics'?
