They don't at all tbh, almost every leading general is happy he's going, he lost a lot of vets, he lost a lot of currently serving military. 

 

He's got no power for a coup. 

 

He doesn't even have any federal law enforcement, I mean one of his biggest supporters was calling for the FBI director to be literally beheaded. So. Yknow. 

 

He may WANT to be a dictator but he's got zero muscle. Even most of the politicians that have lived up his arse for the last four years are slinking off to distance themselves. Mitch McConnell has done an amazing disappearing act this week in particular. He might go out screaming like a petulant child but he's going out.
