Have we heard anything about this 'new' injury?

New injury? Rodgers said that he'll be working with the medical team next week and repeated the injury isn't as bad as first thought. Hopes he'll be back soon.

The thing is with injuries such as this one it's difficult to gauge the severity of the injury and the injured area itself. Once you have a muscle pull any recurrence of the injury presents a doubt that the injury is healing.

It could be that he felt a slight twinge and pulled up fearing that it could have been worse than it was. Of course, it was right that he was withdrawn, but a slight twinge could in no way be as bad as the original injury. It does mean that the injury wasn't fully healed, or that it has caused further problems not picked up originally. But if you've been out for a while then any sort of "twinge" is going to cause concern no matter what the severity of it is.

Starting back after lengthy injury on a frozen surface doesn’t sound too smart - especially with muscle strains and pulls . I’m assuming the medics would have taken that into consideration but it feels wrong

can't be doing with all these conspiracy theories and accusations that the medical experts/management don'y know what they are doing. There is no-one to blame shit happens. they will have been trialled doing exercises and the players themselves would have known if they were right or not.

There is nothing unusual in players returning from long lay off getting recurrences or other muscle injuries when first subjected to the rigours of a competitive match. No amount of training exercises etc can replicate that properly.

As disappointing as it is, it it must be far worse the players and staff coping with this. Lets just hope it not too serious and he is back soon

Trouble is it isn't just healing the injury it is regaining match fitness too. Soyuncu doesn't sound good for the short to medium period. Groin injuries can be tricky to heal so I wouldn't be surprised not to see him until mid Janaury and maybe not match fit until mid February.

Ricardo perhaps a little less. Again though the issue will be not just the injury but overall fitness as this new injury will prevent a more rigorous training plan and slow down his return to match fitness. It would have been great to have had him back for the busy Christmas schedule but hard to see that happening now.

Absolute madness to have played then on a freezing cold night, on an icy pitch last Thursday!..

Why on earth do that?

Games for the U23's was the logical/sensible/obvious thing to do!

Just people looking to have a moan and somehow blame Brendan/Congerton/Maddison/someone lol unbelievably boring.

Yeah. don't understand why people just cannot accept that these things are nobodies fault (except maybe the player themselves declaring they are fit when not, which does happen) and sometimes its just sheer bad luck. It is facet of modern life i think that some people are looking to blame someone

Yes thats a problem the more game time you miss the longer it takes to get back to full match fitness. I wouldn't be surprised with this season if we are unable to put out what we consider a fully  fit first eleven.

Yup.

Ric LWes Cags Casta

        Ndidi Tiele

Under Madd Barnes

           Vardy

I'm worried we'll not see that this season or even next with our outgoings.

Doesn't sound like another long term injury from today's presser? @He is out on the field, going through movement patterns, has to get comfortable. Sooner rather than later, hopefully. Scan clear' - Rodgers just now
