Everton Post Match

Bad day at the office, we move on.

Please, stop making topics and posts about this team being title contenders, or better than the 15/16 team, it's embarrassing.

Yep. Disrespectful to the title winning side. To win titles you need ability, organisation, bottle and consistency. We have one of them in abundance and big questions on the other three.

For what it's worth I don't expect us in the discussion anyway. We've played 13 games and already lost at home to Fulham, Everton, Villa and West Ham. To win the title from there would be mental. I think with how many games we have, we were never really likely. I just want a European place this season. I think we're capable of that - and I'd be happy with that given we've been robbed of it this season.

The home stats are starting to become a bit worrying - regardless of league position or current circumstances. No guile in the early build up play allowing Everton to sort themselves - Who were good but still left space all over the middle to exploit. Really would like a keeper to genuinely challenge Kasper in the league for the NO 1 spot without him throwing his toys out.. it's about time

Youri literally was running behind his marker all game. Was never available for a pass from the cbs. At that point we lose, because he's the only player that links def to attack without maddison dropping and leaving vardy isolated.

Does this not tell you he's being played in the wrong position to shoe horn in Maddison?

One or the other, JM and DP or YT and DP.

Agreed. So much hysteria on here after a defeat. The time for hysteria is after a game like Bournemouth away, not this one

I think using the word hysteria is a bit of pot and kettle moment. Fans are understandably annoyed when we start with a front 4 who should be very potent and end up looking like even viagra won't help them.

Create nothing with plan A, so stick with plan A. We're never gonna be a consistent top 6 team if we keep losing to average teams at home, they hardly have to do anything to win, most are guaranteed to score from a set piece too, just sit on their leads and watch our slow and passive build up play, garbage at home yet again!

Need options... .. br is like a one club golfer

We were poor Everton wanted it more than us but we didn’t help ourselves by the lazy passes that some were putting through it’s frustrating after seeing us play superb on Sunday to a pitiful display tonight, some of the lads didn’t really turn up was it down to Brendan changing the shape should Ndidi have stayed in his usual midfield role what’s the Answer?

We know we can play amazing football and is it too much to ask for great performances every game, January is coming round we need to bring in a few if we want to compete at this Level and with the likes of manure oil city & LiVARpool looking at Tielemans, Maddison, Ndidi, Barnes & Evans if the rumours are anything to believe and I’m really hoping Brendan is keeping a firm grip on these players and a Big NO F-OFF?

I know it’s not been a great year for King Power duty free but I’m sure Top will fund  a signing or so his ambition is equal to his late amazing father and I’m sure there’s a few quid for January’s war chest ?

This game was so predictable. Richarlson to score (he always does against us) & that we concede from a set piece to a team with a good delivery & some powerful big defenders. I dread what will happen when we play Southampton as Ward-Prowse is probably going to be swinging them in under our crossbar.

There was a time when we were dangerous from set pieces, but it's the time of Taggart, Walsh & Elliott.

Nailed on pen. Gomes made the tackle then followed through and fouled him. VAR and that bald twat strike again

You can't blame the ref he gave it. All this looking at the monitor is bollox, they told him not to give it.

We really really need those injured players back. They give us a panache we often lack. I do think we lack leaders in key areas. We're too passive against teams that make us work. We look great when we have time and space but sometimes you have to earn the right to play and we don't always do that and when we don't it is horrible.

If we play like that against Spurs we can expect to be well beaten.

We’ve lost as many games as Newcastle. That’s not sustainable over the course of a season.

If it’s not looking great after half an hour, we need to think about getting a point and not being embarrassed about it!!

Yeah, just seen someone mention the referee, i'm not usually one for blaming officials, I like to look closer to home, blaming officials is an easy excuse, however that bald headed **** was giving us nothing - although the point remains he wasn't the reason we lost.

Is Mendy the problem? Rarely passes it forward ? Side ways back wards to our back three / four . When one pass was enough!
Any decent side is back in shape...

Pratt should have come on at half time for Mendy who had been booked.

How/ why did Harvey stayed on over under ?
If we don’t score early at home , we turn in Arsenal and try walk it in

soo frustrating..

Ref played into Everton’s hand wasn’t giving their squeals a second thought till they scored...

Injuries cannot come back quickly enough...

Where to start.

Overall a weak performance, it’s been a constant issue for us, mainly without Wilf in midfield we always look so feeble, and particularly against good opponents.

First 12 or so minutes we looked more than a match for them, in fact, they didn’t impress me at all in the first half, their defence looked shaky and took a lot of risks, a bit more urgency and we could have put them under more pressure. The first goal was completely avoidable, Kasper stated he was unsighted but I question his starting position, he was too far off his line and didn’t look like he was prepared for a shot on goal. The second was just a mess.

Too many mistakes all over the pitch, one moment we break, the next we turn over possession as if it were nothing, we lost the midfield battle and ended up allowing Everton the luxury of not having to press and just sit and wait. We may as well have had Everton kits on and just played for them.

It’s getting annoying now, because we’re losing games we really shouldn’t be, particularly with Spurs and United coming up today should have been one we went for.

Things I would have done differently would have been gone with a back 3 with Morgan slotting in with Fofana and Fuchs, with Justin and Thomas on either flank. Awobi is nothing to shout about so he could have handled him. Wilf needed to be in midfield, no one was in there causing issues and breaking up the play. We were too submissive and that was where the game was lost for me, surrendered position far too many times in good areas allowing Everton to relieve the pressure on their defence.

Obviously at full strength we are a much better side, but the most annoying thing is one minute we’re in a game and look good, the next a shit pass, we turn over possession fall apart and concede, then we’re easy to beat.

out of interest what are our stats when conceding first?as a guess I imagine we more often than not lose when we concede the first goal?

Anyway, let’s somehow limp through the next too games without too much of a battering and start to look forward again.
