A good sign (even if one of the others is Rob Holding). His weaknesses are few, but maybe the worst possible ones. He’s rash -- among the “leaders” in fouls, bookings, and defensive errors leading to opponents’ shots. Not the ideal partner for Cags. But he’s clearly much, much more than a stopgap. 18 months ago, when similarly desperate, we were loaning Ryan Bennett. So let's get this guy. Southampton keep reiterating that they won't sell Vestergaard which means a potential and protracted negotiation. It would leave us with an embarrassment of riches at centre back once all were fit, though. Only possibility would be a loan but again no-one really available to our high standard. Looking at La Liga & Ligue 1 will be our first bet as financially they’re still struggling. Think Lenglet feels a bit too prestige for us but would be my first choice.
