And he tended to play almost every game. Rarely rotated out. Perhaps that has caught up with him this past year and his form has dropped off ??

Maybe. All I know is that a loan represents next to no risk and lots of potential positives; we need depth now Praet is injured if we really want to push for trophies this season.

It's a game of chicken isn't it?

If it gets to the end of the window and their options are pay him 300k a week to sit on the bench or loan him out, potentially increase his market value if he recovers form and also recoup say 50% of his wages, they'll blink.

All depends on how valuable they see him to their squad.

The analogy I would make is trying to tout a ticket, you can ask for what you want but if you've got no takers at the exorbitant price you want and there is 5 mins to kick off then you either take the hit or sell it for a price the punters are willing to pay.

No way we sign him if Inter say we have to pay the full 300k a week.

Not only because of the financial impact but also because of the potential impact on team morale - they won't give a higher wage than the top paid players who've been loyal to the club.

That said, I think there is still a chance this could happen. Inter may decide that it's better to at least get some money back for the player if they don't plan to use him.

Both sides have made their positions clear, it's now for Inter to decide whether they want to compromise.

I think his experience would be really useful, and working with Schmeichel will help him settle in. Not out usual type of signing but if the price is right, he'll be a very talented addition to the squad.

I still think theirs life in this deal yet tbh.

Eriksen is in desperate need of a career boost, he aint scored in 14 games for inter so if he is in it for the sport (i hope) and not the money then taking a 50% cut temporarily for half a season to get his career back on track in a loan deal in the PL will be very good for him, going forward if he performs. LCFC is hot right now its a no brainer.. unfortunately agents swan over like fly's on shit soo hmmm well see!

They don't at all, he doesn't fit in Conte's system, has made it pretty clear he's unhappy and he's not settled at all. He's definitely going to leave unless Conte goes and Conte is doing a good job so he won't.

Given the position we are in and the opportunity for another memorable season, would the players really be up in arms about his wages?

We'll never sign him permanently because of those wages, so it's really just a case of temporarily getting a quality player in to help the top 4 push.

Frame as a 2.5m loan fee and £150k per week.

I have my doubts about whether he is a good option, but I'd be a bit disappointed if our players had a hissy fit over a player getting wages that Inter deemed  he was worth. For Leicester, it's us saying whether an effective £5m loan fee for half a season is worth it given the potential rewards.

I was thinking about that too.

In keeping the rest of the squad content, it would make much more sense to pay £3m for the loan deal with £150k wages than it would to pay no fee and eat his £300k a week.

Still have nightmares about him and that hat-trick against Ireland!

Eriksen was fairly decent for Spurs at the time but he faded out from 2018-19 onwards. That's the concern as much as his wages are.

If there's an argument to be made in its favour it may be that Pochettinho got the best out of him and that someone like Rodgers could be similar to get him going again.

One way or another it looks as if we could be close to getting someone good in before January.

Really wonder where he gets that from

Someone mentioned before that he generally releases the team an hour or two before the club release it which is in keeping with when the press are usually updated on the teams so his source may not be within the club but rather someone in media.
