Popular Post StriderHiryu Posted 6 April 2021 Popular Post Share Posted 6 April 2021 We were in for Keita after winning the title, not as a Kante replacement but potentially as an upgrade / rotation option for Drinkwater. His stats for Leipzig were insane and Liverpool signed him for a similar reason, I remember seeing a piece on him from their head of analytics saying he was the one he thought would do the best for them out of their amazing signings. He'd be a big risk as has been stated before, but players like Huth, Albrighton and Tielemans were all assumed to be flops before turning it around. Of course on the other side we've had players like Adrien Silva and to a lesser degree Cengiz Under and Vicente Iborra. But we are the sort of club that signs either up and coming unknown talents or players who deserve a second chance, so could see it happening. The Soumare transfer seems more likely with better pay off though if you ask me.

Rodgers has a relationship with him from Chelsea so he'll know where he's at.
Scotch Posted 6 April 2021 Share Posted 6 April 2021 If we signed Naby Keita and kept him fit..... he would be arguably the best CM in the league. The guy is a different class but unfortunately the chances of keeping him fit are so so small. It would be one hell of a gamble and one I don't think we are in a position to make right now with the losses we've just posted for last year. davieG Posted 6 April 2021 Share Posted 6 April 2021 http://sportwitness.co.uk/claim-defender-wanted-leicester-city-e25m-deal-make-countrys-expensive-player/ Defender is ‘wanted’ by Leicester City – Deal could make him country’s most expensive player By Sean Lunt - 6th April 2021 Leicester City are eyeing up a move for Fenerbahçe centre back Attila Szalai in the summer transfer window. That’s according to Hungarian outlet Blikk, who claim the Foxes could make the defender the most expensive player in his country’s history. 23-year-old Szalai has been impressing for Fenerbahçe this season following a €2m move from Apollon Limassol in the summer. His performances have seemingly not gone unnoticed and, according to Blikk, he is now ‘wanted’ by Leicester as a result of them. They’re keen on a deal, and if it goes through, he would be the most expensive player in Hungarian history, with Fenerbahçe demanding €25m to sanction a deal. That would come in at around 9 billion forints and trump the current record holder Dominik Szoboszlai, who moved to RB Leipzig for €20m (7.2 billion forints) in the January transfer window. Now, there is no mention of Leicester opening negotiations or anything of that nature, just that they are interested in Szalai. It’s a move that would make sense, though, given two of their current central defensive options are Wes Morgan and Jonny Evans, who are 37 and 33, respectively. A younger option to back up the likes of Wesley Fofana and Caglar Söyüncü would make sense, then, although if they are willing to match Fenerbahçe’s demands remains to be seen.
AKCJ Posted 6 April 2021 Share Posted 6 April 2021 Moreno screams of the sort of player that would go to Everton or Spurs and flop to me. I don't think he's the right man for us. Just doesn't feel right.

Sounds like the Wesley Fofana Inflation principle in action. As they say "you can always ask".

He's the right age, and a quick Google for video of him suggests he's left footed and likes a sliding tackle. A big lad too. Which ticks a few boxes. The quoted price seems a bit steep, I'm sure if we're interested we would be negotiating that price down a bit.

Scotch Posted 6 April 2021 Share Posted 6 April 2021 Szalai looks a cracking prospect but my reservation with that is that we already have two big, young stud CBs and although we all love Fofana and Cags, you can't deny that they BOTH play better with Evans alongside them. Problem is, we don't have another steady Eddie type CB like Evans. That's why I would be more inclined to go for Tarkowski who maybe isn't as exciting or talented as this young lad but has a bit more experience and a bit more of an older head to calm the two young bucks down when Evans is injured, which is happening more and more the older he gets. 2

Sly Posted 6 April 2021 Share Posted 6 April 2021 Keita was brilliant before he signed for Liverpool. Not sure he’d look to leave them and join us. It’s not an area that screams we need to upgrade ....... like RW, or FW. It would be a sign of intent though.
