Sarcasm and insults aside - some of you do like to hunt your prey in packs - size is an inferior marker of potential in football. Once a player has made it into the upper divisions then only technique, stamina and speed are the true arbiters of a footballer's worth - physically speaking, that is.

However, the big men will always have an advantage in the thick of the tussles between defender and attacker at corners or advanced free kicks.

I watched City vs Arsenal three seasons back and commented to the bloke next to me as to how the Arsenal guys were 'bulked-up' compared to City's - Giroud and Lacazette in particular.

But anyone succeeding in Brazilian football (and Argentina/Uruguay) has had to be tough.

Many on here were alarmed to the point of frenzy about the number of games Tielemans was playing in and completing. Yet he's gone through a remarkably tough season without faltering. It wasn't until midway through the season I took a good look at his physique. He's only 176cm but built like a brick shithouse - especially his sturdy legs. I fear for Maddison's future at this level and hope that he can develop the musculature to protect his body against the vicissitudes of Premier football.

BTW anybody remember Brian Flynn? He didn't do badly for a little 'un :D.

Like anything in football you can never go on appearance alone. Vardy is a narrow man but as hard as nails but then he comes from Sheffield. I get the feeling though that Rodgers wants to put some size into our midfield but we will all have to wait and see.

Injuries, age and money aside Coutinho sees the field like no other player I've ever watched. Maybe David Silva in his prime. Always wanted to meet him so I could check out the back of his head for eyes.  Still see his best position as that of a deep lying playmaker similar to Tielemans. Barcelona was the biggest waste of a player I have ever seen.

I'd love to see coutinho in a Leicester shirt but at the same time there's no way this transfer if it happened would ever work out

here you go!

It would show intent. But can’t see how he’ll fit in? Compete with Maddison? Replacing? Interested (if it is a possibility, which I’m doubting) how will he fit in with the team?

I'm not even sure it shows intent though. He was undoubtedly an incredible player. I'm not sure what he's actually like now. He seems to be injured an awful lot.

He's also been played predominately on the left wing, and has said he likes playing as a 10. We don't want anyone ousting Barnes away from his best position, or displaying Maddison when he's back to his best.

It's a classic transfer window rumour, but I just don't see it happening. I don't understand the logic behind why we'd want him in our system.

Assumes Maddison can get back to being prime Maddison, and 2021 Coutinho isn't  better than prime Maddison even if he can

Shame his wages would be ridiculous as he would be a fantastic rotation option for both madders and barnes rather than straight up competition for one of them.

Defo need to get someone like this in, like Rodgers said he wants winners and people with the know how for the final push. He’s certainly that but I’d be surprised if he came here 🤞🏻

For all the people against this, just remember, we've never had a Brazilian.

I’ve had several.

maybe we can swap ayoze perez for him? i'd take that

Think you'd just about get one of Coutinho's boots for Perez, unless that is Barcelona are in need of another programme seller.

Yes really, an unfit, out of form, money grabber wouldn’t start ahead of any of our strongest 11. It would actually be a stupid signing by all means

he'd play at the expense of madders wouldn't he? I have a feeling he'd only be a target if youri does indeed go. The minimum i could see coutinhio taking and the max we'd go to is £200k a week

I imagine he will be competing for the right wing role that Albrighton has been playing with madders still in the middle and Barnes on the left.

He was out for most of last season with an outer meniscus injury.

I can’t see him coming in and play on the right for us. Looking at his career positions, he’s predominantly been left sided / central.

I’m rather us go and get a proper right sided player than waste money on a player still coming back from injury, to fill a position that isn’t natural to them.
