Do you reckon Peter Walton earns extra doing public appearances, etc.? 

 

Maybe opening supermarkets or judging poodle competitions, or whatever.

Did you see Livakovic's right leg? It impedes Alvarez, therefore fouls him. 

 

It's Livakovic coming out for the ball which leads to the contact. Otherwise you're saying strikers should stop running when the keeper comes rushing out. The shot is gone but the keeper had still impeded Alvarez from getting on to the ball after.

I suspect if the ref hadn't given it they'd all have been saying it was a definite penalty and Peter Walton would have said he'd got it spot on. Whining about referees is punditry 101 and Walton is basically there to stick up for the ref and get sneered at by the panel.

That's why I'm not a ref! 

I’m not saying your wrong I just see it differently, for me Alvarez has taken his chance, miskicked it and the ball is going to be recovered by Croatia, it’s nothing more than a coming together that’s initiated by the forward movement of the striker.

 

The keeper for me doesn’t make a save because it’s a poor effort, should he be penalised for that? I don’t think so. But as others have saids, if Vards doesn’t get that at the King Power I’m not happy lol

Regardless of if you thought it was a penalty or not was never going be over turned as a clear error so that is why the ref didn’t go and look at VAR.

Undoubtedly Messi is a once in a generation player and rightly gets praise,but sometimes he passes the ball 5 yards and they call him a genius.

im sure a commentator said that after a penalty he scored the other week.

Am I reading the game wrong all these years.

Is it just me that really dislikes Croatia? Shithoused their way to the latter stages yet again. And they have a real small-country-in-CEE inferiority complex.

Don't disagree with you - think it's part of his career winding down so we're unlikely to see him on this kind of stage again. More of a homage from the commentators to his body of work as a footballer rather than the 5 yard pass they use as the stated reason.
