JJ looked better tbh, but concerned about lack of depth.

I think Maresca is concerned that we don't have a natural left footed player who can receive the ball comfortably on their left side and hit long diagonal balls left footed, accurately. Justin is a good in the left back position, but offers a different style of play to Doyle.

Rather would be frustrating for Ben given his skill set. I presumed he was more a right sided defender bit I stand corrected, Nelson is as two footed a player as you can get.

It seems ambipedal is the technical term.

knees are weird. I had a really innocuous knee injury about 9 weeks ago and it still hasn't cleared up despite physio.

Strangest thing is, it causes me absolutely no pain at all in day to day moving about.  No tender points in my knee, but the second I try to walk up or down a flight of stairs, it's debilitating..... feels like my knee is made out of weetabix and painful across my whole knee.

such a complex joint, it's no wonder time lines and pinpointing of injury is vague.

Has he said today they don't know what it is?

“Enzo Maresca confirms that Callum Doyle will be out for between 12-16 weeks, but they still can’t confirm exactly what the injury is.”

He’s had an op on it. Likely MCL with the time frame.

Probably a good outcome then. Or at least it’s much better than an ACL

seagrave is improving

What I can't understand is the injury happened pretty early in the first half, JJ was sent out to warm up, but CD played on! It was pretty clear this was a knee injury as Doyle was massaging it. To my recollection no trainer/physio came on. Nevertheless I was pretty sure he'd have to come off and was very surprised when he played on for I guess at least another 25 minutes!!

Whilst I'm no physio I'd like to bet that playing on in this way for nearly half an hour has done the kid absolutely no favours at all.  You don't have to take risks these days with  a) JJ to cover and  b)5 substitutes allowed.

He refused the treatment from the physio, so he didn't come on. Physio's aren't magicians, they can't tell what's wrong without actually assessing the player.

Massaging knee could've just been a knock, we've all had a hit, massaged a knee/arm/elbow and then ran it off.

He refused treatment and looked alright as the half went on. If we subbed a player everytime they massaged an area, we'd never have half the side on the pitch.

Hopefully it’s just a pulled hammy.

I’m optimistic, I don’t see how you can get your heel flat on the ground with a torn hamstring.

The way he walked off gives me hope.
