Puel's system had midfielders that were disciplined and kept their position including a certain Papy Mendy. This gave Ben Arfa the licence to roam around and focus on attack, which he did with devastating aplomb as seen in the goal below. You might also recognise some of the passing moves as similar to the ones we do now so you can see the style is clearly influenced by this team (passing out from the back, Mendy being the primary distributor in our own third, attacking together as a team), who coincidentally also had Ricardo in it. Madders is a young man, but if he could raise his game then trust me, we will have a very good team that will play some very nice stuff. I hope we see more signs of it as the season progresses! At Nice, Puel also had Alassane Plea. He bought him after knowing him from the young teams in Lyon. Plea had a slow start at Nice (3 goals in 33 matches then 6 in 19 for his first two seasons) then 11 goals in 25 games and 16 goals in 35 which are at least decent. This season he plays at Borussia Monchengladbach where he scored 8 goals (+3 assists) in 13 games and had his first cap for France. He's only 25 yo and is fast, technically gifted, has a good football IQ... I think there is a huge chance he could be Vardy's replacement.

Will cost a lot more in a few years...

I thought he was good yes but had moments of errors and missed chances and lacking consistency with his passing. Hes having a tough season with some glimpses of greatness but i cant see him being consistent this season just yet, hes still devloping under the new league. Next season im confident we will see the finished article we need.

KingsX Posted 7 December 2018 Posted 7 December 2018 He's going to be an absolute gem in the role Puel asks his fullbacks to play. When I was looking at ball-winning stats for Ndidi, and also found Ricardo in the top 15, that was an "aha" moment. He covers ground, is one of our few pacy, creative threats, passes well and intercepts a ton of passes. He's adapted to the PL in a third of a season. And has a "what can I do to get better" attitude.
StriderHiryu Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 Ricardo is ****ing mint. Seriously one of the best right backs in the league. After getting found out the hard way defensively earlier in the season, he now looks imperious. Fantastic signing!
SecretPro Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 Ricardo is officially the bollocks. Absolute demon today.
lgfualol Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 Remember some of our fans wanting Simpson back This guy is class. Everything I ever dreamed of in a RB.
Beechey Posted 22 December 2018 Author Posted 22 December 2018 6 tackles this game. More tackles than Ndidi and Kante, and the third most in the league. The guy is an utter machine. Best RB in the league for me.
Mehrez Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 I don’t want to get carried away but I heard Kimmich studies videos of Pereria at night. Utter class

Absolutely first class. He is way better than Chilwell. Clearly the best player on the pitch today for us. Next would be Hamza.
kingfox Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 Been absolute quality since Amartey got injured. Enjoy him while we have him because it's evident that he's a bit too good for us, a top four team or someone like Barca will snap him up in a few years.
STUHILL Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 My MOTM today, just ahead of Choudary who was also immense. His ball control, movement and decision making are all top notch! Turning out to be a fantastic signing by Puel. People can doubt Puel in other areas, but his ability in the transfer market is proving to be very good!

You are right but imo he would be even better as right winger, Simpson behind him and Albrighton on the left side infront of Chilwell

Stadt Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 Not a surprise both fullbacks looked better with three players centrally, Ndidi and Choudhury covered well which allowed both Pereira and Chilwell to exploit loads of space. Individually, it was Pereira’s best game and he’s got more of a cutting edge than about 90% of our squad haha
Legend_in_blue Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 Physically he's stepped up and that has made the difference imo.
Farrington fox Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 Turning into the best signing of last Summer imo
Lovejoy Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 We will be very lucky if he’s still our player next season. Been improving by the game and looking the complete fullback now. Can’t believe how much he’s come on defensively.
kyleolly Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 Was superb today Albrighton got back well to help him out to.
PhillippaT Posted 22 December 2018 Posted 22 December 2018 I guess we need to hide Ricardo, now, too?

Both Maddison and Ricardo are integral to the first team. Don't forget he's essential turned Chilwell and Mendy into "new signings" too. Soyuncu I think will get there too, though we won't see it until next year. Only negative is Adrien Silva who Puel clearly doesn't fancy at all. Perhaps he's no good, but the fact he doesn't get a single look in is harsh IMO. Admittedly though Hamza came in today and showed more than Silva ever has.
