You're correct

But this was a European game, is there a different rule?

I think it was only used for the Women's World Cup and it is a joke. If it is clear and obvious for the ref (or 4th official behind the goal) to see, then pull it back. If you need super slow motion to see it, don't enforce it. Otherwise every penalty will be scored and we never see any misses/saves anymore.

If people are gonna bring up goalkeepers coming off their line then every penalty will be retaken. They all do it.

Well yeah until they get pinged for it every time for a couple weeks and then they'll stop.

Adrian's always been a particular bugger for racing off his line though, watch that pen Leo slotted past him in the Jon Moss derby, he's practically inside Ulloa by the time he kicks it

A recent article in 442 Magazine on shirt sponsors makes interesting reading https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/premier-league-shirt-sponsorship-201920-every-club-man-utd-arsenal-liverpool-chelsea-tottenham

1. Manchester United - £64 million (Chevrolet)

2. Manchester City - £45 million (Etihad)

3. Arsenal - £40 million (Fly Emirates)

4. Chelsea - £40 million (Yokohama)

5. Liverpool - £40 million (Standard Chartered)

6. Tottenham - £35 million (AIA)

7. West Ham - £10 million (Betway)

8. Everton - £9.6 million (SportPesa)

9. Wolves - £8 million (ManBetX)

10. Southampton - £7.5 million (LD Sports)

11. Burnley - £7.5 million (LoveBet)

12. Crystal Palace - £6.5 million (ManBetX)

13. Newcastle - £6.5 million (Fun88)

14. Watford - £6.5 million (Sportsbet.io)

15. Aston Villa - £6 million (W88)

16. Bournemouth - £5 million (M88)

17. Leicester - £4 million (King Power)

18. Sheffield United - £3.5 million (USG)

19. Norwich - £3 million (Dafabet)

Time for the owners to cough up as they obviously havent done enough for the club PMSL!!! Look at all those betting companies! Never heard of ManbetX but they sponsor two prem clubs?!! In fact I havent heard of at least half of those companies!

I think a few of those companies are getting ripped off

Its mad the amount the top 6 get paid in sponsorship and naming rights, if we were to break the mould, it would certainly bring in lots more benefits - if King Power were to ever give it up 😂

The penalty rule should be the goal keeper can move wherever they want after the whistle! It would make them a lot more exciting and stop the controversy imo.

So that’s a race between the taker and the keeper to see who gets to the ball first!

think this would’ve eclipsed us winning the league as my favourite football moment of all time if it had happened tbh

Yeah, you're right, I'd choose seeing that over us winning the league any day, nice one.

I don't think much will change. This is just the sponsorship deal. As owners, they pump in a lot more money than those £4m. So the figure in the lists is a bit watered down.

If we did break in, King Power as a business would hugely benefit and in return, so would our club.

So enforce the rule then? Seen this point raised a few times since the Chelsea/Liverpool shoot out.

If it's the rule, enforce the rule. Simple as that. If a keeper comes off his line, retake. If he does it again, book him.

Get it sorted.

I hope you're right, in the meantime we have to endure people blaming VAR for interfering as though there's no merit in having a clearly defined and fairly applied set of rules.

Adrian got injured by a fan invading the pitch on Wednesday. He is a doubt for Saturday so Andy Longergan could be in goal for Liverpool against Southampton!

Did anyone see what happened to Adrian?

What an idiot. I feel for Adrian if he can't play, given what a high being the hero would have been so soon after joining.

That said, given how Liverpool's rabid fanbase went about bullying Karius out of their club, it's mildly hilarious to see that they may now have to rely on the services of a 35-year old journeyman who wasn't good enough for Middlesborough! :trumpet:

It's a club with arseholes that think it's funny to go nuts and be arseholes wherever they go.

Case in point, that guy dumping people into fountains and being a xenophobic moron during the Nations League.

They're not unique - our club has arseholes, every club does.
