Made all the difference today. His energy and drive finally rallied our God awful team into some kind of offensive

Albrighton is and has been one of our most under-stated players, possibly ever

He's been doing it all season.

People always scream for him to be dropped every time he has one average performance but we never look the same side without him in it.

Would be interested if anyone has our points per game with or without him in the side the side.

He never shirks his responsibility and even when he has off days he never hides or drops his head and continues to try and get things going again. Which is more than you can say for most of our players.

26 points from a possible of 39 when he's started - pretty damn good

Brilliant today. He came on with spirit and determination like a one man army trying anything to win. 👏👏👏👏👏

I think today's game settled one point.  Albrighton may not be our very best player, but the team is better when he's on the pitch: more compact defensively and in midfield; more forceful going forward. I wish he had been on in the first half.

This man is up there with the best LCFC players for me, he epitomizes everything about this football club.

Usually when we need someone to bust a gut or put that extra bit of effort in, Albrighton is always there or involved in it.

Thank you Marc for being one of the few today who showed how to be a true professional in every way. Hope you and some of the seniors sit down with the rest of them and give them a good talking to. It needs to be done!

Impossible to like Marc anymore - he really is a proper pro  :appl:

PS. Villa were really dumb letting him go

Assume you meant impossible to not like, otherwise the lynch mob is on its way

It still amuses me that Marc was surplus to requirement at Villa, offloaded to us for a relegation fight, a now he has a Premier League winners medal, FA Cup winners medal and has scored in the Champions League. Mental.

Marc Albrighton is never a class player but is the best defensive winger in the Premier League period. Bar his loan spell at Wigan in the Championship, he has been playing in the prem since he was 19 until today - That's 13 seasons at the very top. He won Premier League, FA Cup, Community Shield with Leicester. In Champions League, he scored against Sevilla during 2-2 draw in the round of 16 and dragged Leicester through their first UCL Quarter Finals.

His defensive action numbers across all top 5 European league is the highest among the wingers. He is ranked among 90+ percentile in Tackles, Interceptions, Blocks, Clearances and 70+ percentiles in Assists, Progressive Passing and Pressures - while producing 1 assist every 4 games on average.

r/PremierLeague - A shout out to Marc Albrighton, one of the most underrated winger in Premier League

Not only that - he managed to do this for every single season since FBref compiled premier league statistics. His work rate and consistency is among the very top.

Very interesting reading!

Makélélé revolutionised the role of the defensive midfielder, Albrighton brings the defensive winger to the party!

Yea, but he don’t score or assist enough for a winger.

I jest and probably shouldn’t about Marc, as he is beyond reproach. :worship:

Very underrated. I think he remains the best crosser of a ball at the club to add to his defensive attributes and should have more assists to his name. He's also very brave in possession and never takes the easy option. He always looks forward and sets up so many attacks.

Whilst I think we need more of a goal threat from the wide areas, I am more than comfortable relying on play him there as a reliable option and it's no coincidence that he keeps getting back in despite being initially unfavoured.
