Nothing more than a squad player.

I said months ago he never contributes enough for us. Always gets away with the standard “at least he tried” comments.

I'm worried that the remaining outfield immortals (apart from JV obviously) are going to tarnish our memory of them by playing on with us for too long. Are Wes and Fuchs here for any reason other than sentiment now?

This is the issue. There needs to be a time where you say thanks and goodbye. I’ve said it all along, football isn’t sentimental. Fergie didn’t keep Bruce at centre half, Pep didn’t keep Zabaleta and Kompany around.

Tbf, Albrighton created our clearest opportunity in tonight's game. Didn't think Wes or Fuchs were bad either. I think people underestimate the benefit of having these kind of characters around the club even if they don't play much these days.

Fuchs showed he still had something about him last year. Morgan is primarily here to be brought on to see out matches now and play the odd cup game.

Albrighton doesn't fit our style any more, unfortunately.

Albrighton doesn't belong to a top 6 team but nostalgia merchants on here wanna have him in the squad coming on. He offers nothing of value on the pitch. He is 30 so move him on whilst we can. I'm sure he can do a job on the Burnley wing pinging crosses into Chris Wood. Or let him go back to Villa.

If this club were ruthless they would move him on and get £6-8m for him، but we would rather give out 4 year contracts to injured players.

Pretty sure no one on here picks the match day squad.

He’s in the squad because BR and the coaching staff believe he offers more than others in the squad.

Whilst not a starter, we need squad players who are happy to play a bit part, Albrighton can come on and cover numerous positions, especially if we get injuries late in a game.
We are not going to get a squad of 25 who are all world beaters and happy to sit around getting the odd 15 minutes here and there.

Totally agree. Albrighton is our James Milner.

You need subs to turn games around and subs to see out games.  Albrighton for me is the latter.  He’s a squad player.

Fuchs and Morgan for me only play this game because Benkovic hasn’t  developed (or is ever for) and Ricky P’s injury means Justin is getting PL game time.

Marks legs are going.but I think let him see out the season and if any fans are back come may give him the send of he deserves for his efforts.

I love the sentiment but have you met our fans? Any send off will be to a chorus of boos and moaning

Has to be acknowledged that he was played out out of position tonight and he ran his socks off, often doing the unseen dirty work.

What a fantastic servant to this club.  :scarf:

Perfect for games like this. Seemed to be playing lots of mind games out there with the opposition too.

Anyone sagging him off can do one. Rather have Albrighton at the club than fans that want him sold ASAP.

hE IS GIVES 1000 percent every match, leaves every ounce out there, was a starter in a league title win for crying out loud

those who slag that sort of footballer off can do one.

Always gives his all and is constantly a solid performer. Isn't going to be first choice, injuries aside but reliable. Sometimes you need to have someone solid if not spectacular in your squad.

Not having he should be binned off when he's still a good quality squad member and probably an asset in the dressing room

there here for nights like tonight when you have a difficult game in odd circumstances on a terrible pitch

you need your squad members and they deserve that loyalty for what they have done for the club

I thought all the old guard played really well just when we needed a bit of grit and determination.

To think we started with Fuchs and Morgan, who I thought were finished, Albrighton, Vardy and Schmeichel and still won the game is remarkable.

did well tonight, but then he isn't ancient, and has had some great seasons for us in the PL.

Our standards have gone up, but Albrighton is pretty much the same player he was. A superb professional who will still be a decent player at this level, for a couple of years yet.

Exactly the games he should play in. Great servant to the club but should t be anywhere near the starting 11 for the league. He’s a great option to being on when defending a lead or giving others a rest
