Yeah I wouldn't have any sympathy for footballers to be honest.

Paid handsomely, and that DOES matter especially in the context of the current climate, and able to work. Tonnes of them are openly flouting the rules - though not to suggest all are - and they're able to go to work and see their colleagues. They even touch one another regularly.

But the poor darlings must be suffering in their ****ing mansions with little to no change in lifestyle. The heart bleeds.

theyre humans not gods mate, of course they have more resources but we are hardly talking about exploitative folk like bezos who would sell his soul for a dollar

They might well be humans but they're gods when it suits them aren't they? I'm sure Grealish was crying out to be a regular bloke when he was getting away with being pissed up behind the wheel. And Mendy when he was being defended and getting away with flying q woman into the country in the middle of a pandemic. Just normal guys.

They're given so much leeway and privileges in society that I find zero sympathy. Remember, for once they're being treated like regular folks.

If your average joe can't see his family I don't see why we should sit weeping over the plight of a footballer.

i do agree generally that the richer you are the more leeway you have. that shows how corrupt the system is in general. But while it obviously is not as hard off on them as it is on average folk, theyre not souless, shallow folk, or at least the majority are not.

I'm not intimating that they are.

But everyone in society is in this together. They're the demographic of complete, total non concern for me. Super rich, super fit young men who, on a good day, couldn't give two shits about being normal (and why would they?). Nah. I think I'll reserve my sympathy for those in a bit more need.

What's this don't celebrate too close together thing really all about?

Players run around shoulder to shoulder, grappling on corners and roll around in eachothers spit on the pitch. Train & travel together in air conditioned buses ect. Share baths, showers. More spit all over the ball.

Unreal isn't it. Disappointed we made a thing of it. The worst thing you can do with the types to moan about that is pander to their demands. The only real blot on our performance.

Oh yeah incredible band.

the City and Hundred Reasons - never thought I'd live in a world where they collided.
Saw them Rock City 2004, supported by Biffy Clyro. How things change...

Believe the HR singer now works as a media teacher at a college somewhere and has no real inclination to return to music.

But his celebration was ironic so not really pandering to it.

We shouldn’t have any sympathy or empathy for Nuno because Jack Grealish and Benjamin Mendy broke the law?

They were just used as examples of the entitlement of the demographic in general.

Broadbrush, those involved in football are, right now, the least deserving of sympathy.

My grandmother is housebound and terrified she'll see her life out that way. I'm sure she'd love to be a millionaire who was able up go to work and seemingly bypass most ruled out pandemic life but she can't. You're right, though. I'm sure Nuno, living with his son, is suffering more.

Any chance of Sheffield United taking points of Spurs today? Spurs will score early and then park the double decker. Against the team bottom of the table. Mourinho has no shame.

I’m not sure whether it’s the case that footballers are more entitled than the average population, or whether their transgressions are disproportionately highlighted due to their profile. I know a hell of a lot of people in the same demographic flouting the rules as much, if not more than the footballers. I don’t have more sympathy for them than anyone else but I do emphasise with anyone who can’t see their loved ones and has to manage those relationships and feel isolated from them for a long time whilst working in an extremely high pressure job. The millions help, I’m sure, but they don’t replace relationships

Be interesting to see who co-commentates on the pool manred game today, I wouldn’t be surprised if they shoe horn in both Jamie and Gary.

Oh they will 100%. It'll be Martin Tyler with Neville and Carragher. Then probably a panel of Souness, Keane and Richards.

More than likely. Hopefully they'll be so biased it'll wind up the other lot and they'll then realise what the rest of us have to put up with.

No one has to be suffering more do they? Why can't people just accept that others can be feeling that effects of the pandemic without making it a competition?

Not just footballers but all millionaires, your Instagram influencers etc will undoubtedly have it easier than your average Joe, doesn't mean that there won't be some who are not suffering.

Just because some are not following rules and guidelines doesn't mean that others are doing the same.

Take me for example of your "average Joe" I was furloughed for 7 weeks last March/April. Since then I've been back at work. Financially I'm slightly better off, no money problems, my mortgage is paid every month, my car had fuel, my fridge is full. I get up, go to work, socialise with work colleagues. Am I not allowed to feel down?? Because I earn decent money and still see people at work?

I think bringing NES up and comparing it to someone else is unfair. He’s not broken any rules (as far as I’m aware), and he hasn’t complained. Someone just pointed out that he looks a shadow of himself and given the probably reason.
