Injuries at the club.

Not to be a pessimist, but would he be stretchered off if it was grade 1?

They may've learnt from the Ricardo and Justin injuries and not allowed him to put weight on it. Get him off asap.

If it is only six weeks then that's a much better outcome than I feared.

Whatever stick you want to beat Rodgers with, we can't beat him with injuries.

We've just had catastrophically bad luck. If Ole is the flukiest manager in the league and United the luckiest team, we're a contender for the least fortunate.

The injuries to Ricardo, Barnes, Justin, even Madders really, they're just freak. Could happen to anyone at any time. Not really about over use, you could argue we've managed the return of a few poorly due to desperation but the big major ones are out of anyone's hands.

How can you look at Barnes or Justin's injuries and blame the manager? What's he meant to do different to stop them landing awkwardly?

To a large extent I agree. However, our over reliance on Vardy, Barnes and Maddison and the lack of RW options do make injuries to these players more likely.

Saved me the job. Spot on. Blaming Brendan is madness.

Think there's an issue with the player conditioning currently. We seem to be experiencing a lot of the same/similar types of injuries many of which coincide with Rodgers appointment.

The pandemic and sheer volume of games has clearly played its part but in seems like we've failed to use squad rotation to manage the load effectively and instead been forced into using the squad because players have broken down.

Muscle fatigue to thighs and hamstrings can make other types of injuries (e.g knee soft tissue) more likely.

Of course there is an element of bad luck but to universally dismiss as being all down to luck isn't right.

Managing player workload, intensity of training, failing to reinforce the squad and luck all play a part.

How much of the above can be levied as "blame" on Rodgers himself is another debate.

Those saying we messed up not strengthening the squad in January have no idea who we tried to sign and you can only sign players if their club will let them leave, if the player wants to come, if we're not being ripped off with the price or if they are contract free which usually means their probably not that good.

It can almost be out of the clubs hands.

It’s only looks a bad decision because of the injuries, captain hindsight.

We had a succession of injuries before January, occurring regularly, as did most clubs, so it was hardly difficult to predict that it would continue after Jan.

Everyone team has suffered this season. Top footballers are like and other elite sports person, they are supremely fit but it is always a fine line between being at the top of your physical ability and being injured.

When you have the sort of congested season we have this year there were going to be more injuries, and it is hardest on teams who do not have the depth of quality in their squad to cope with losing starters. We have coped better than most to this point but we have reached our limit now.

Injuries all season have meant that we haven't been able to rotate like we might have done and it will probably cost Maddison, Barnes and Justin a space in the England squad, really tough on them.

Sadly, what should have happened is at the outset the money men should have agreed to some form of truncated season with less games, but they were too worried about the money to worry about the players.

Maybe it is time to consider whether our top 2 divisions ought to be just 16 or 18 teams in size, and restructure below that level to help clubs with the financial tresses they ae all experiencing.

There's definitely a degree of luck no doubt, but there's also an argument that some of these injuries may be down to poor conditioning, which the management team and backroom staff are responsible for. If joint stability for instance isn't given the consideration that's required you'll inevitably see player's experiencing these types of injuries frequently.
