Anybody else finding his lack of discipline a little concerning? 5 yellow cards from 12 games now and he’s not even been available for all 12 of them taking into account his back injury and his suspension carrying over from last season.

Could tonight’s booking have been a tactical one to ensure he definitely makes the Spurs / United games? Seemed such a daft foul to make at 3-0 up!

I doubt it.  With Soyuncu apparently close to fitness it makes no sense to take a suspension now.

I still can't fathom why it was a yellow anyhow. It was just a simple, mistimed challenge. Not hard, not reckless, not dangerous, not cynical, not a cumulation of lots of fouls, didn't stop a break.

Evans is still of huge importance for us, but his distribution and awareness seems to have become worse. Few times a game now we get a pass that is straight to an opposition player, usually leading to a chance. Same with the few times I've noticed he's been megged and left stranded.

He makes the odd mistake. All defenders do. But he’s hugely important for us! He’s one of the reasons why Soyuncu was so good last season, and why Fofana & JJ (& Amartey!) have looked so assured at CB this season.

First name on the team sheet, now and for the foreseeable.

Best CB we’ve had since England won the World Cup!

I don't disgaree at all, he is of exceptional importance to us.

It was more I've noticed in a few games he's misplaced a simple pass that was nowhere near our player and left us open to the counter. @StanSP made a point how Kasper's distribution is under a magnifiying glass, whereas it's an aspect of Evan's game I've not seen scrutinised.

Evans was massive as ever. Everybody was a 10 in my book today. Feels so good. I wanna us to beat Manu in this style next time we meet.

I'm glad this conversation is still going.

He played amazing last night.

He put in the type of performance that easily puts him in the debate of "best defender in the Prem" again.

That pass out of play about 60 mins had me pissing myself; especially when there's no apology for sending a 15 yard pass 20 yards over somebody's head :D

Get the feeling he’s the Dad of our squad. Makes a bad pass or a rash foul, you don’t argue

So assuming all 3 are fit. Where do we all see the 2 at the back? Cags/Fof or Evans/Fof or Cags/Evans. Which pair is it for the second half of the season (after Cags gets back to full fitness)

It's a properly good debate that I feel will carry no definitive answer, unfortunately.

I thought Soy would return last night, he didn't.

Fofana played so well he shouldn't be dropped for Everton and neither should Evans.

Can Soyuncu have such a great game against Brentford that it brings him back into contention for the Everton game?

I think the most likely, pragmatic and debate ending answer is, their game time will be managed for the greater good of the team.

FA Cup, Europa League and Premier League, all 3 will play their part.

We all know Cags is far too talented to be a regular on the bench, so I assume BR will have already worked out the plot with all 3, especially as Evans has signed a new contract, I'm sure it was all laid out for him.
