Vardy ruled out for "a few weeks"

Just having in the starting 11 makes defenders nervous regardless if he is scoring

Yep. It's the psychological aspect of his presence, even when he is off the boil.

And we have shown - certainly last season - that we are an on-top team which obviously points to psychological issues. Hopefully that's something Brendan has been working on.

Maybe Vardy has both. Someone on the forum with similar problems claimed that it was probably a hip joint problem which a "lubricating "injection cured for a while.  If correct .he probably could have completed the season with injections altho personally I don't think its wise to keep playing with injections . A medic might dfisagree. but pain is often the body's way of saying "Don't do that". Maybe the hernia has happened since, recently . I don't have any medical knowledge but I guess any sort of hernia is something you would n't want anyone playing football with. My main worry was Vardy would have an operation in an NHS hospital which is probably full of corona virus cases.

Depends what you are injecting. My mum had a doc who worked on Tigers players, and he was injecting saline to problem areas to tighten up the ligament thingys after dislocations etc. Saline sounds a lot less worrying than steroids, at least to me.

The interesting thing is because you cannot copyright saline, there was very little research on its use, because there was no money in it. Bear in mind this was 10 years ago, so I may be out of date.

If this stat from the Guardian is correct, it is nearly 13 months since City, playing without Vardy, won a game against a PL side. Can any other player be so crucial to City maintaining their current position?

How many matches has he missed in that time, though?

We've won the last three without him scoring which is encouraging.

Sounds scary but in reality that just means 2 games since we played Newcastle without him and won 3-0 in Jan 2020 (lost 1-0 to both Norwich and Villa with him off the pitch).  So really that stat just goes to show how few games he misses.

Also fails to mention that we beat Braga 4-0 with him on the bench and Braga are premier league level

When we say keyhole surgery does it mean you have to stand by the front door and the consultant fella does the business from outside in covid secure way

This is an op not an injection so you wonder is it a repeat of previous issue ,Tiger woods just had a 5th op on his back!

To be fair, we lose most matches when Albrighton doesn't start

The cup performances suggest we have an all round game.  Of course ideally Vardy would be available.  There are several hugely influential players because we now have a great squad:  N'didi, Schmeichel,  Perreira, Soyuncu,  Tielemans, Madison, Castagne...

Stats section says Vard played 35 games out of 38 in the League last season, and 18 out of 19 this season. So he's missed 4 Prem games over that 13 months. Hardly a massive statistic set, but if you expand the scope enough and talk about time so you can count the close season as well it sounds dramatic enough to hype up a poorly written match report and a dumb as shit opinion in the Guardian's "10 things" article on the weekends games. Classic Jonathan Lieuw attention seeking nonsense. He's one of their troll writers, like Glendenning, just wants attention for their "hot takes", how else do you explain someone who claims to be a Spurs and Arsenal fan? How do you watch a game where a team bags 3 goals and creates a bunch of other good chances and think the main takeaway is that they "look toothless"

His match report for yesterday’s game includes some utter pre determined bullshit about Rodgers too

Theres been quite a few game's where vards has come on as a late sub when the game's over...

He’s only come as a sub three times since we last won a PL game without him - Villa h 4-0, Arsenal a 1-0 and Palace a 1-1
