we are scoring goals from over areas. But it’s not the goals we will miss ... it’s his all over presence we will miss. His work and link up play has improved massively. Gonna have to have Perez step up now.

This!

I believe that Chelsea's fixation with Vardy left Maddison open for that second goal.

Looks like he is finally getting that issue sorted, but bloody hell I hope they have a plan to cover for him better than Nacho

He will miss the following games if he is out for at least 3 weeks

Brentford (A)

Everton (A)

Leeds (H)

Fulham (A)

Wolves (A)

He could possibly be back in time for Liverpool (H) on 13th Feb

Of those games Everton and Leeds are the 2 that will probably be most effected.  Fulham and Wolves are likely to be more passive and sit a little deeper any way so hopefully our quality can undo them.

Leeds for me is actually a worry now. A quick counter is the best way to catch them out.

Sad that we're thinking along the lines of "anyone but Iheanacho" to fill his role. But shows how important it is to plan NOW for a future without Vardy.

HOPING (emphasis added) that Iheanacho - much like Mendy in Wilf's absence - will do a reasonably good cover job, getting the benefit of a run of games without having to look over his shoulder.

Would rather see Albrighton on the left and Ricardo in his place

Albrighton played very effectively on the left during our Prem-winning season.  I think he also curved the occasional good long through ball or diagonal pass from deep on the left, but obviously not so effective without Vardy or Mahrez to aim at.

The year we won the league Vardy got band for 3 matches and all the pundits said that was it we were going to fail then up step  leonardo to take his place and guess what we didnt buckle. So keep the faith whoever takes Vardys place.

Hardly comparable mate, the previous season Ulloa started as the first team striker

notched 5 in his first 6 premier league games

and went onto get 11 league goals for the season

Thats 2 more in the league than Nacho has got in his 4 seasons here so far

I'm confused - when was this?

When we played them on NYD 2019.

A god-awful game. Everyone hungover. Won it through a Keane mistake and Pereira played the through-ball to Vardy.

Well that's our season over we are nothing without Vardy, can we get those to 2points to take us up to 40?

Good point. That is a serious blow. I would still be against buying a striker in a hurry, usually means a higher than usual price if the seller knows you are in a hurry, and unless BR is a genius who ever we buy is likely to cost over 30K and might take as long as Vardy is off before he is effective within the team. Generally cheap strkers are a mistake and repented at leisure  JV being the necessary exception to prove the rule.

I would be inclined to try Barnes and Madison as strikers at Brentford and tell them today they are trial strikers who have to press as hard as Vardy (should n't be too difficult its really a two man job anyway) . Realise we might  not be going to win the PL, and EFL and FA cup altho we should keep seriously pursuing them IMO.

No need for panic (there never is) . I think the squad as it is can largely cope without Jamie for a few weeks, we have some very flexible players, mainly Justin and Castagne, but there are others such as Pereira probably, He who would have to play Brentford along with HB and JM (to see how that goes) and as a first option after that check the chances of recalling KDH by the Everton match.I suspect he will turn out a good striker and even if he does n't will be a very useful MF almost immediately. Don't really want to rush him in a striker role even if he shows promise. I know I've been against that in posts but no JV is not good as even he might take a week or so after the op . to get back to full effectiveness. That would be my proposal and I'm pretty confident BR will have even smarter proposals as I doubt this has come out of the blue to him. Never the less you make a good point and priority is  the two points, then beat Brentford and Everton,(that will take care of the two points) then make sure we don't lose touch in the PL, and carry on in the FA cup ( Next !!) then the ERL

Just think how dejected our pursuers will feel if our stride is n't seen to falter. One thing I am pretty sure of is Brendan will have known it was coming and might already have a plan to cope with it. I would suggest we don't win all 3 if possible so as to get a better chance of winning the PL, ECL and cup again next season and to keep our forum members a little bit humble. I can think of a few who could get carried away.

Might turn out to be a piece of luck if JV back quickly and playing more effectively than ever, HB and JM cope, and KDH starts knocking in a goal a game. Then with JV repaired, and not having to buy a striker at all.......who knows. Don't forget as well the goals from corners and set pieces practicing is going well with our first goal from a corner since the war, you guys tell me. Burnley probably had't done much better from penalties as they've probably only been awarded 3 or 4 since the war.

PS I''m a little worried about JV in hospital during covid times . I hope the club maybe even consider flying him abroad for the op.

I think we've picked our moment actually, other players have been finding the net and dare I say he's looked off his best the last few games.

Definitely and JV was prevented from entering the penalty area on his feet, by a foul. I don't know what the rule is there. Also Vardy won the initial header (against two defenders!!!! ) that led to the pass for the goal.

This is the thing though just presence of vardy causes the opposition problems, that opens up the space for others. The opposition will know Nacho man is shit and absolutely no threat whatsoever, and they will then be able to give more attention to our other players.

Relax, folks. This is all a part of Brendan's plan. He's playing 12D Hungry Hungry Hippos; we're merely witnesses to a master at work. The title is ours.

It's for the best.

His stats look brilliant this season, but taking the penalties away he has scored 5 in 20 league matches. Hopefully Perez can step up and make a tangible difference to our play, and Vardy can come back sharper.
