Reckon this is all our fault for daring to win the league.

“We don’t want too many Leicester Citys.”

These were the words spoken by a senior figure from the Premier League’s ‘big six’ clubs, in the kind of high-end London hotel you can easily imagine.

Whilst the proposal's sicken me and wind me up I also feel some kind of pride in the shitstorm we caused and have contributed towards making the big teams, throw their toys out the pram, start kicking and crying saying it's not fair resulting in them trying to run away.

I think it's very unlikely but possible. We wouldn't be too far down the list after the 'Big Six'. Could even throw us is to try and prove that it's based on sporting merit. More likely than not that we are not though. It would explain the conflicting reports regarding Man City however.

Just mentioned it would be the ‘Traditional top 6’. Not us then. Seems a way of keeping us, West Ham, etc at arms length.

I can see sky and BT getting ready to cream themselves with the thought of increased prices with even more football to showcase. I’d hope that the average domestic fan would boycott this but it really wouldn’t make any difference as the money I’m guessing would be coming in from abroad. A sad day for football but I thought that about the EPL when that first started and yet here I am watching it with my tv subscriptions.

Total unlikely scenario, but if the big/traditional 6 did leave the EPL, how much the leagues value drop by I wonder? 50% 75% 90%?

Wonder how they'll manage promotion from EFL as well. Or reduce the PL league size...

That’s the thing isn’t it, I don’t think the league would be much more popular than the championship is now, it’d be a crisis in the making.

Once you let the foxes in the chicken coop, don't be surprised to find dead chickens.......

With the introduction of American owners this was always likely, for the Glaziers, Fenway Group it always been about making money!

For once, football fans all over Europe might just have to show some solidarity and inform sky, BT, canal+,SkyItalia etc that they'll cancel all subscriptions if they winnthe rights to the new format

I think it would be somewhere in between the two. I think domestically it would still be popular, very popular. Where it would lose out is internationally but around half the value of the premier league comes from domestic rights anyway.

These clubs are just a brand for businessmen, agents and players to line their pockets and have ever diminishing relevance to their local communities and the fans that attend games

They might as well go the whole money grabbing hog and brand Man United as Kelloggs United and Liverpool as Mcdonaldspepsicola fc

That’s what I’d hope, but I don’t think that’ll happen sadly.

What do the fans of the clubs involved think of it? I'd imagine that they'll end up playing 'home games' half way round the world aswell. It would literally rip the club out of the community.

These teams have threatened to do this for years, for them to actually sign a contract to join a another league (can’t call it a super league with no Bayern Munich but Arsenal and Spurs) would be crossing the rubicon.

Big step to take that will change football massively. From our point of view we could look to be among the best of the rest but long term the super league will be dull and the top domestic leagues will not feel right without the big clubs. How much joy would we really take from winning a non big 6 premier league. I’m sure we’d love it in a lot of respects but you’d never in a million years be able to compare it to 2016 when we could say we was the best team in England.

So let me get this right, it’s a European League, that they’d be competing in, rather than the UCL / Europa.

UEFA / FIFA have already said that they’d ban all players from playing in domestic and international tournaments.

Therefore they’d need to leave the Premier League, or UEFA may lean on the Premier League if they were to not oppose this.

I suppose what it comes down to, is that financially it’ll have an impact on all clubs.

The Premier League will lose revenue by losing them.

I’m not sure a 20 team closed shop Super League is actually that interesting in the long run. With nothing to lose if you can’t get relegated and nothing to play for if you’re mid table. It will just becomes half arsed and all a bit boring after a while. I can’t see people subscribing to it long term. Man United Vs Juventus, would just become as watchable as Manchester United Vs Southampton after a while.
