I think it needs to be a point deduction of some kind. The amount of crap they put every single fan through for 48 hours has to be offset. Although I feel it will punish the fans of those teams too it is maybe needed to keep the fans on the owners backs about it and then they have something to have a go about rather than something that didn't end up happening.

Fines mean nothing to them, they can all afford to pay them. I think it has to be points deducted or transfer embargo. Something that actually effects them.

I thought about that but as it stands only Arsenal would be punished hardest as they would go into the bottom 3, whereas if its the start of next season and all 6 started say -20 or -30 points its a hell of an ask for all to overcome that handicap during the season, i honestly couldnt see chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs and maybe united and liverpool getting to far up the table. They would have to get 50 points just to accumulate 20 or 30 points which would still keep them in  relegation trouble.

Ah well you reap what you sow !!

if that was anyone other than the so called Top 6 I’m sure they would be punished heavily really hoping the Premier league no don’t bottle punishing these Greedy Barstewards !!

I like the idea from someone re removing their uefa coefficient......will make for some brilliant groups in next few seasons CL

I agreed with it too. It punishes them significantly for a number of years.

I agree, it hits them where it should, right in the Europeans. lol

However, doubt UEFA have the intent to damage their product.

People are talking about punishment for the Big Six for the ESL saga, the greed and the unfairness of it.

Some are saying ban them, deduct points or the like. I would say that is not good either as we all just want to compete. We Leicester would feel “robbed” as well if we cannot say compete with the the ESL teams in the CL if we make it.

What is much better I would think is to punish them by taking away all these unfair practices and power imbalance away from them. To start off with, these teams should not be able to buy there way out by poaching our very best, including Rodgers.

It is ridiculous if you think about it that if Tottenham cannot compete, then the likes of Sherringham comes out to say go and poach Rodgers from us!! Go and get Fofana from us. Go and get Nachos from us. All by the Big Six teams! Basically, it is a different way of keeping the Big Six powerful without the ESL!! It is just another way of stifling competition within limits tolerated by fans. To me, I am sick of this and enough is enough.

So first punishment, put some limit on how they can poach players and coaches from other teams. Compete on merits through building teams over time, not by buying your way out of trouble.

Nothing has happened other than people offering opinions in the press. Try stopping that and see what happens.

Believe it was “under discussion”. Hmmm

The new reformed ECA has been pushing for them to be removed, not sure if UEFA have made a decision yet.

But the current rule has already been watered down, now they do at least have to qualify for the europa to get a free bump to the CL, at first they could qualify from any league placing.

The Athletic reporting that they’ve all resigned from PL committees.

Aside Spurs who weren't on any to begin with. :giggle:

This seems to be being swept under the carpet very quietly.

Shouldn't come as any surprise really.

I was thinking the same

So apart from the big 6 losing people on the premier league committee - albeit temporarily - (because lets face it once the storm has passed they'll have someone else from these teams reappointed in these postions); there is looking like no sanctions whatsoever for their actions?

Quelle surprise!

Surely a suitable punishment for these miscreant Clubs would be relegation to the Championship. A financial penalty would not be appropriate simply because they are so rich.

The only other option, to my mind, is a 50 points deduction!!

The PL won't do a lot except for make changes so any new European breakaway will result in expulsion from the PL. UEFA are the ones who might fine/ban them in the near future.

If the 6 clubs don’t get any proper punishment for breaking league rules as well as undermining UEFA and the PL because “it might hurt the fans who had nothing to do with it”, then Portsmouth should sue the PL for their points deduction, as well as all the other clubs who seem to be forced to comply with different rules than the so called ‘big 6’. All clubs should be held to the same rules, otherwise the rules mean nothing, as we saw when a certain someone went to Barnard Castle in lockdown. Punish them as any other club would be punished, otherwise they’ll just do it again ffs
