Stevosevic Posted 23 May 2022 Posted 23 May 2022 No thanks. I thought Brendan wanted a first choice CB so Evans could play less games.

This is 100% an Everton signing and that for me is enough to stay clear. Plus he’s a right sided centre back, we need a left sided one.

Of course , most of the top teams will pin us back as Chelsea did and then you need some old school blocking and timely tackling ability as in Wes Morgan and Dan Amartey. Tarkowski is pretty good at that.. Burnley have been relegated because of their limited attacking threat , not defending. Edited 23 May 2022 by An Sionnach

This is 100% an Everton signing and that for me is enough to stay clear. He used to play out from the back when he was at Brentford, that's why we were interested in him in the past. I've seen him multiple times this season put his body on the line with some epic last ditch tackles. In the game against Everton where they came back from 2 down, he was great despite the goals conceded. He's strong aerially at both ends of the pitch too. Burnley have been relegated, but so were West Brom when we signed Evans, as were Hull when we signed Maguire and Liverpool signed Robertson. Getting him on a free means more money to reinvest into the squad at large as it won't count toward our net spend. Next season our first choice pairing will be Evans and Fofana. We don't need a first team player for CB, we need a solid, dependable option that is better than Amartey and Vestergaard. Tarkowski ticks all those boxes for me. If we could sign Bremer, Saliba or Colwill then OK those signings are better. But otherwise he's a high value signing that could be very useful for us. 6

KingsX Posted 23 May 2022 Posted 23 May 2022 I watched a lot of Burnley this season (masochist I guess) and I'm here to tell you, Tarkowski has regressed. Lots of mistakes. Can’t see how he would fit our high line either. My advice to any Brexiteers who just want an old-school, hard tackling Brit who By God Defends-First-and-Only … try to think of him as Tarkowski, the Polish plumber. 1 1

You just lost us the FA Cup because you did not think Youri Tielemans was of insufficient quality for Monaco, so if he was too poor for Ligue 1, no chance he cuts it in the EPL. Sum of the parts and all that…. Although I admit, I would only have him as another body, rather than a starter Edited 23 May 2022 by Dahnsouff

Evans' 1st 10 yards are in his reading of the game though, he's one of the best in that regard. 2

lcfc sheff Posted 23 May 2022 Posted 23 May 2022 Yeah I’m put off tarkowksi now, for me it’s either a youngish French centreback to partner fofana… or colwill
sdb Posted 23 May 2022 Posted 23 May 2022 I so wish we'd gone for Tawkowski last season, even if we'd overpaid. Unspectacular but I don't mind that at CB.

Lots of players play badly in relegation-threatened sides. Evans got slated by West Brom fans when they went down. I don't think we should bother, and I think someone like Colwill would be a much better shout long-term, but I don't buy into this idea that playing crap in a relegated side = you're a crap player.
Cincinnati Fox Posted 23 May 2022 Posted 23 May 2022 Tarks is going to the highest bidder. And that won’t be us. Not earnt silly money in his career and its time to cash in

Tarks isn't rated that highly there whereas Mee is. I think we should steer well clear personally. 1
Popular Post Ric Flair Posted 23 May 2022 Popular Post Posted 23 May 2022 Would much rather Denayer on a free than Tarkowski 6
tsintskaro Posted 23 May 2022 Posted 23 May 2022 I think thats only position we can get someone for free and in this hard financial times, someone good in the air, physical and experienced would be great addition but Burnley fans saying he was crap this season. We cant gamble after Vestergaard purchase, 2 crap defenders in 2 years, 2 deadwood will be devastating

Bptiger Posted 23 May 2022 Posted 23 May 2022 Don’t want him , would rather stay with cags , other than that a young up and comer
lcfc_forever Posted 23 May 2022 Posted 23 May 2022 Telegraph saying it's Everton and Villa in for Tarkowski, not us.
