Brentford are miles better than us as a team at the moment, they could probably beat us with Toney blindfolded. 

 

A point would be a great result for us.

VK being back is a big plus. Some aggression and ambition to get forward on the left hand side. Do wonder that Barnes will come back in though and we'll go back to a back 4 with VK LB, Ricardo RB. Give Tim a rest.

Given we've had a week rest and Brentford have played tonight, we should be fit, prepared and ready to fight for 3 points. I guarentee come round to Saturday, we won't be any of those things.

Yeah, a weeks rest. That's exactly what has been going on at Seagrave. A sauna or two, a few massage sessions, bit of swimming and a couple of rounds of golf. Marvellous.

I think this game and Palace after ends it for us. Beaten convincingly here. Frank is too smart not to know Brendan’s one style and how to exploit.

We’ll have had a whole week to re-charge the batteries. Brentford played tonight so have 2 days rest … surely we’ll be the team that looks fresh and presses with the higher intensity, right? We will, won’t we? Please say we will … ?

Well Brendan only used 1 sub on a sweltering day whilst Frank used all 5 successfully last time we played them so Probably not,  it’ll be a case of Brendan’s run them ragged all week with a 3hr run on Saturday morning too followed by a full training session before the game !!

Of course no fans wants to see this. Those who want Rodgers out do so from evidence on and off the pitch and for the good of the club. Some people have been there quicker than others.

 

A truer statement would be that those continuing to want Rodgers in are willing to accept the collapse of the club in the desperate hope that they can say I told you so if somehow things turned around!

 

I don’t want us to lose any game, Saturday included. I can though understand that those who are, in their own head, treating it as a black and white situation where it is win on Saturday and Rodgers stays or lose and he 100% goes, would think this way as evidence of how new manager bounces work would make it likely we do better thereafter with a new face.

 

However, the point that @Dahnsouffparticularly has made that at this point we can’t actively be not wanting 3 point for what could hypothetically happen is true.

 

Also, we could legitimately lose 9-0 on Saturday and he’d probably still be in a job so there’s zero point hoping to lose, hence where I have mentioned if it was 100% above.

Notice that Brentford had just 34% possession at Southampton last night. That exemplifies Frank's willingness to adapt to circumstances where necessary to ground our results, something Rodgers refuses to do. You just know we'll go there on Saturday with a ridiculous high line with slow centre backs and an insistence to build up play through the thirds without ever trying a long pass to unsettle Brentford. When we inevitably misplace a pass they will totally rinse us on the break over and over. This could get really messy.
