FA investigating Hamza

He breached the FA's rules by failing to delete a tweet he tweeted when he was 15 and then forgot about. Joke.

No. The breach wasn't failing to delete it. It was writing it in the first place. The fact there was a charge that came from it all these years after because some sad Arsenal-supporting virgin spread it around social media is the most embarrassing thing about it.

Think we can all live with the outcome thought, time to move on.

Agree. £5k ban is tolerable following the charge.

If there was a ban it would have been ludicrous.

Even worse. Charged for a six year old tweet written in his adolence before he was subject for the FA's rules.

It was a pretty offensive joke to be fair. I get that he was 15 had a lot of growing up to do and punishing him years later may not be appropriate. But I don't think being offended by a joke implying black people are only not serving time at her majestys pleasure if they can sprint fast enough to avoid arrest constitutes a "snow flake"

Who is that offensive to?  The authorities ?

depends which way you read the joke

it’s either demeaning to black people or it’s offensive to the ‘institutionally racist’ authorities ......

at at the age of fifteen, would you wonder about the differences ???

If Hamza needs any help covering the £5k fine, I’m sure his Uncle Top will be able to take care of this for his family. ;)

... just to clarify, did Declan Rice receive a fine or any punishment for his comments. Did Hennessay receive any punishment from the FA or is the FA failing to follow their own edict in relation to racism.

With the Danny Baker incident and his bizarre protestations stating he was not aware who was having a baby...... it seems that if you are black, any contrite statement issued, does not carry the same weight as it would if you were white.

The FA has dug itself in a hole.....and should be called out for this. About time they practised what they preach!!!

that educational course should last all of 3 seconds. 'right lads do not post your opinions or joke on twitter' that's as far as that can go. and 5k? easy money. like taking candy from a baby, or in this case a shed load of money.

It can read either way this is the problem and tbh yes I think at 15 you should probably be able to see how that could be construed as highly racist even if that was wasn't how it was meant.

Like I say no problem with defence of age and stupidity but no one should be defending the actual comment itself or making light of it.

Oh look what a surprise he gets a ridiculous light slap on the wrist and everyone gets to move on.

Who'd have thunk it eh foxestalk.

Can we chill the **** out now and forget about it?

Does it not say he admitted to breaching the rules? Unlike Hennessy and he didn’t try and argue it the FA can hardly turn a blind eye if the player admits they’ve done wrong?

Is the punishment absurd and risible? Yes.

Is it a sad sign of the times in which people are actively and eagerly encouraged to seek and find virtue in being 'offended', no matter how trivial? Yes.

Would any 15 year old who said this be fined. Just because he plays football the fa can punish him. No other company employer could do this. The police would have no interest.  I think a legal challenge should be made against the fa.  Even if it was upheld, he should fined at the level at which he was earning at the time which would be around £10 not £5000. The fa disgust me.

If Hamza is charged with this the FA needs to look at its self and enforce all rules. First off they need to sanction spuds. The racist chants of YID Army. How many fans have spuds banned for chanting this?

No point even talking about it. The world is going PC mad. It's ridiculous. Unfortunately things like this will become more and more common.

So in the end all the people offended by people being offended was pointless as he got the slap on the wrist I think was about right in the end? X

We all know that the FA is a stale pale male old boys club. Absolute disgraceful. Wayne Hennessey does a ****ing Nazi salute. Declan Rice states he supports the IRA. A terrorist organisation. Nothing happens to them? Clearly, the FA see a minority young man and punish them. I hate the FA they should be strung up by their balls. Absolute disgrace.

Guys just imagine Freddie Starr doing his Hitler in wellies routine on saturday night TV this weekend.

I found it very funny then and probably would now.

I completely agree with you. I just wonder though, had social media existed when the members of the FA committee that punished Hamza were in their early teens and, if we were able to scrutinise the cached data from their teenaged online activities, how many of them would have written something on there that now, with the benefit of hindsight, may be considered ill judged? There aren't many men now that can say that in their early teens didn't say or do something stupid. I find the whole thing hypocritical. I also see a case for fighting it if he wasn't bound by FA rules at the age he was at the time of the online entry. As a young professional trying to get on he'll probably just want to put it behind him and move on,  however it does implicitly point the horrible finger of racism at him and he shouldn't have to put up with that. Strange that singing terrorist songs and Hitler goose steps are seemingly ok, though the former was also questionable due to age, in which case the same rules should apply. It would be great to see some of those stuffed shirts in a witness stand squirming under cross examination justifying their decisions and being asked about their youthful activities under oath.
