His confidence seemed low in the first few games this season so it may have something to do with that. We've always been a possession team under Rodgers but Barnes has always been encouraged to have a go, and we've started to see that again in the last few games. Most important part of tonight was nearly every time he got the ball he wanted to take players on, if he doesn't do this I don't think he is that effective for us as he's not a ayer who revels in slowing the play down and looking for an opening. Love to keep him involved as much as possible and still believe pulling him in centrally would keep him involved for 90 mins as opposed to 45 mins in a game. Not going to happen with our squad and Maddison in the #10 looking to get back on form, but his talent is not being utilised enough. Perhaps a team that is possession based would be the answer, where he is being fed constantly by the players around him. I think in order to see him at his very best he will have to leave. He can be a very destructive player and we need to have a genuine Right side player that demands as much attention as Barnes to pull defenders away in order to give the space to Barnes. Neither defends well at all and wingers these days have to track back and support the full back.
