Harvey Barnes

Barnes is similar to Greenwood , they are played wide but are basically strikers. Neither defends well at all and wingers these days have to track back and support the full back. I think the only way we can use him to his best is if we play 3-5-2 and he operates as a dual front man with Vardy or Daka.

Difference is Greenwood is a quality finisher.

Harvey was playing for Harvey and not the team. Didn't help out defensively and just kept shooting from silly angles. Decision making is clearly not his strong point. Perhaps he wanted all the glory on his birthday. Although he's been like that for a while. That left hand side will always be a worry until JJ is back.

He needs to know when to come off his line, he gets too wide and it nullifies our full backs runs. especially when the opposition sit in, he, like Vardy becomes  ineffective. Unfortunately I don’t think he has good enough control or the footballing nouse to play centrally.

The wide options available to us is pretty bad and has been for a few seasons now.

Harvey is frustrating.

He looks our most dynamic attacking threat and is the only one who can run with the ball but he's so greedy. Lots of time he does not play the ball when he should. Shoots from crazy angles.Tries to do it all himself.

So annoying to watch when you can see the ball needs to be played and he Fails to do so time and time again.

Turning very greedy. Don't like it.

That's the essence of it.  He's become increasingly selfish in attack and his decision making is generally abysmal.  Where's the chorus of criticism we saw for Gray over the same flaws?

His defensive work is so poor as well, he was at fault for their winner along with Bertrand. However much we criticise Perez, he puts in a shift with his pressing.

Ranieri dropped Mahrez because he wouldn't do the pressing side of the game enough. Barnes need to learn the same lessons.

Difference is Gray did it and did very little else in terms of goal contributions, and had never shown he could be better than that.

Barnes is greedy yes, but still has as many goal contributions for us this season already as Gray usually managed in a whole season for us, and we know he can be better, and he has shown he can be better and one of our best players.

Pretty easy to see why he shouldn’t get the exact same criticism Gray used to get.
