What I find with him there's no real urgency about his game and I think that's down to his personality I reckon he's pretty laid back. Since he's been here he never busts a gut to get back on side which is frustrating especially when using a quick ball out of defence.

I think this sums him up well.  On many an occasion he seems to slow up when chasing a ball, rather than continue into the challenge like a bloodthirsty Vardy would do.  Granted that Vardy is exceptionally sharp, aggressive and determined, but even so I find Nacho's lack of urgency to make the ball his own such an anticlimax by comparison.

Poor ol nachos he ain't half getting a roasting today by everyone lol. I've too heard he's one of the best penalty takers in training. Only he knows why his head wasn't right in the run upto the spot kick. We could all see the body language wasn't right. Maybe the pressure got to him knowing that if he scored we take the lead and get a massive boost of confidence. Maybe not playing enough? He also clearly was suffering mentally after the save. Rogers will protect and defend him no doubt. Hope the club start seriously think about getting a serious backup to Vardy now in January or the summer at the latest. This has become mission critical.

Wow Youri Tielemans only on 33k a week while Slimani on 80, Gray on 55 and Nacho on 60 aweek.

I always think Tielemans when is playing we score, he has been brilliant the last 2 months also

There are a few that IF true, are hard to fathom aren't there. I suppose it could be argued for example that Slimani at the time, was of a certain age with supposed pedigree and track record. Perhaps also, largely most European clubs don't pay as high a wage for yet relatively unproven players compared with the Premiership, their may also be incremental structures in place. We perhaps also have to be wary of the validity of such claims of knowledge about private wage contracts. No doubt the contracts of young prospects like Justin, Barnes and Thomas etc are revisited regularly as they progress.

So with Nacho I think he's been given long enough, and enough chances to show what he can do. He's simply not bright enough is what it comes down to. He's one of the most frustrating players to ever play for us, we know he has talent but his decision making is so so so poor. The penalty for example. Stick to what you know, your first penalty, the first goal would have been so important. Hit it with power and into the side netting. The stumble was so unnecessary. He just lacks enthusiasm, composure and metal awareness. I remember he did a signing session at the KP a few years back. He was so dull, lifeless, no real interaction with the kids or any passion or enthusiasm at all. That's how he also plays. What to do however? We have no one else? Arrrrghhhhhhhh!

Nacho is a nice lad and must work hard in training as Rogers wouldn't tolerate anything less, and clearly not without some talent. However, agree with most on here, he has had long enough and not consistently produced. We cannot rely upon Nacho as a back up to Vardy, not if we are serious about being a top 4 team. Ulloa used to make light of the days Vardy was missing, could lead the line and score a few (think we all expected Slim to do this and even better - shame). We should have taken a punt on Che Adams or Ollie Watkins in the summer, both scoring goals in the championship, eager to prove themselves at this level, and got that bit of attitude your top strikers will need, while young enough to develop.

I feel sorry for him, no matter how much he frustrates the hell out of me. We need a striker who is clinical because we don't create enough good chances. Iheanacho isn't that, he will go somewhere like Celtic and score a shed load I'm sure, for a team or in a league where he'll get plenty of goalscoring opportunities.

It was a shit penalty and the header was a good chance, but we've seen Vardy miss penalties. The most annoying thing for me was the through ball attempt to Vardy that didn't even go close to where it needed too. That's the side of game which frustrates most, within games he can do some great play, close control and hold up play but then look like he's never seen a ball before.

We can't replace until his contact runs down or someone comes in for him, I think Rodgers would like to.

Forget those two chances, he had an opportunity to feed Vardy late on and completely miss-kicked it.

capable of the sublime but for what the club are trying to achieve he’s simply not consistent enough and can’t be relied upon to win you games.

of course our challenge right now is who would come in and play understudy to JV...

as stated already within the thread by others, he can be decent at times but sadly its not on a consistent level, he can go from a world beater to bambi on ice

id be very surprised if hes still at the club come next summer, and i think a move to a club(probably one in Turkey i guess) where hes the number 1 striker would help him

No, I thought it was a difficult chance and his penalty wasn’t much worse than the one Vardy scored at Spurs,

however he lacks a yard of pace and his all round game just doesn’t compensate.

I think we would have seen a different Kelechi if he had had half a dozen games under his belt prior to this one.

That said, the header chance was a cross that strikers dream about and the penalty was the worst I've seen in a long time.  Vardy put his foot through the ball against Spurs.  Nothing wrong with going down the centre of the goal.  Kelechi's was a tame side foot effort but worst of all he clearly telegraphed where he was going twice, once at the start of his run and again at the stutter and that is really, really poor.

Nacho is shit, not good enough, needs to go. I wish people would stop be apologists for him. It depends where we want to be but we need a better striker who can alternate with Vardy, we need to accept Vardy is gone in the next few seasons, Nacho is not goid enough to step in. He's maybe okay a 3rd choice or something.

The wages chart here probably reflects the distribution of the wages pot better, they seem a bit on the high side for all players:

Little Wes and Thomas? Really that low? :O still doesn't seem quite right there?

Yep no way does a player of his quality sign on 33k a week, so those might be his old wages from when he was on loan . It was reported he was on around 120k per week when he signed.

I don't subscribe but wondered if someone could summarise the article on him today's The Athletic?

It’s a bit of a fluff piece to be honest. He tries hard, he is a good guy says Brendan. Fans running out of patience.

yadda yadda yadda

We won’t replace in January, no value, he will get further chances.

How on earth can he ever truly kick on. I think people are way too harsh on him.

He's had no end of chances, in the first few seasons as a number 10 supporting Vardy and then stepping in whilst Vardy is unavailable, for example just before lockdown he was first choice striker whilst Vardy was out, started four games in a row and didn't score once against Norwich Birmingham and Villa.
