We've given him long enough, at this point. There's only so much a coach can do. It's the player himself that has to step up and adapt his game. He knows Vardy is the main man so he should be asking what can he do to get in the team? Can he play behind him in a kind of 10 or deeper forward option, maybe in a 442/352?

Is he going to the manager and asking for more game time? He won't replace Vardy but it's down to him to work with his teammates, to get to know them and how they play, then slot in with that. Maybe he could adapt to do more hold up balls or take the pressure off Vardy in games? Or even allow Perez to be the striker up top in rotation and slot behind him with Madders/Barnes/Albrighton on the wings.

What I'm saying is - there's options for him and he's got to be the one to push for them.

He had the 'game time' against Palace - missed a penalty and a header from a couple of yards out

..we do not play a style that Nacho could play that will suit him!!!

If you can see it, why hasn't Rodgers implemented a way to incorporate Nacho appropriately,  if Vardy is unavailable.

It would be great if Nacho spoke to the coaching team to find a way to make it work, but that is one player, no one else is struggling to identify his role in the team, and that only leads to him being surplus to requirements.

Just let him go...he needs to find a way to move on and it won't happen here.

We probably would have sold him on by now except he is the only recognised striker we have after vardy and would struggle to get back half of what we paid for him.

Oh forgot slim but he doesnt really count does he???

...yeah, you are right there!!!

We have had several windows in order to resolve or at least attempt to address the Vardy situation. We never did what most on this forum had been crying out for but we adhered to an idea which obviously was not going to work and even now we continue to apply the same short sided thinking expecting a different result.

I  feel we are being a bit unfair to him as we keep him hanging around when he really doesn't have a chance. He needs to be cut free and replaced, yes the club will lose money on him but this is a fact of life. Cut & run !!! Let the lad move on.

I know it's a different level of opposition but he looks absolutely ruthless and confident in cup games. Is it the pressure of league games?

If he's going to play, he needs a partner or play just behind the main striker. His close control and movement of the ball at times is really good. I think we'll look to get another forward in during the summer so he's got another five months, let's hope he can add a few more goals.

Trouble is the lad hasn’t played much football over the last 18 months in the Premier League, his confidence has been shot to hell would it be better to get out on loan for the rest of the season to give him some game time and maybe see if that will help revive his confidence because when he took that penalty against Crystal Palace The look on his face sure he was scared to hell and he knew he was going to miss it when he took it!

He had so much potential with his days with Manchester City He looked quite a lethal finisher but for some reason he must’ve left those scoring boots at Man City, so is it time to send him out on loan or is it time to sell him?

Rodgers is in a difficult position. If we are realistically looking for a top position and compete in Europe then we need a striker biting at the heels of first team selection. The conundrum is, as you've said we need to give the him some games so he can get himself going again. However, given our fixtures this hasn't been entirely possible, and his peno miss will set him back. Affordability has a dual meaning, cos we sure as hell cant afford to buy a striker in a January window. We don't have an u23 striker with numbers to fill the gap.

We unfortunately, I think, are going to need to persevere, unless we've got a sneaky scouted talent ready to bring in, but I'm very doubtful. And if we did bring someone in, transfer/loan, then 100% this will boot any scraps of confidence he has left over the stand and into the car park, where his agent will be waiting.

He'll play the Stoke match, and here's hoping he can find it then, but our fixtures for the month don't shout out opportunity, unless fatigue to Vardy takes hold, and Rodgers is forced to swap. Also not saying that the Stoke match is last chance saloon, maybe Rodgers still has faith in him beyond this and will give him more opportunities to get his mojo back. He sees him in training, he's best to judge, and if he has the ability to coach him into a better place, given alternatives, then we all get rewarded for Rodgers' coaching. Hoping we're not in a 'stick or twist' situation next week.

I’ve never wanted it to go right for a player more than him, but it just won’t happen here.

He had that spell last season from about December - February when he was scoring some really big goals and looked great. I finally thought we’d gotten a tune out of him, but doesn’t seem to be the case.

I can’t see us buying anyone, so reckon he’ll be here until the summer.

Watching Barnes goal again.

Kelechi standing just offside knowing the ball wasn’t coming to him might’ve played a part in the attack.

Giving the defenders something to think about while Barnes made his run.

Either that or didn’t have a clue what he was doing :dunno:

I think it was the latter, unfortunately. It looked like he he didn’t know whether to get back onside or tie his bootlaces. I think half the problem is that he hasn’t exactly got the greatest positional  awareness

He needs to get some praise for coming on and pressing. At one point in stoppage time Southampton had the ball near halfway and his press resulted in them having to go back to keeper and hastily getting rid of the ball.

He does stray offside a lot though. He tries to play on the line but doesn't really move with the defenders when they push up.

Time to upgrade. Never been good enough to step in without coming up short. I was a believer he would get to the level required, unfortunately not he doesn’t have it between the ears, not switched on enough  be a top striker.

A good cup player, he is definitely excellent Championship level/ good for 3/4 of the Euro matches we would play.

NOT good enough for Prem.

GET RID

Surely he does deserve praise for coming on and running around a bit, that's the least you'd expect of a professional footballer paid thousands of pounds a week 🤣

No awareness, first touch or technique like a rabbit in the headlights when he gets a pass
