Thought that at the time. Normally Rodgers is effusive in his praise of individuals if they are singled out by the reporter. Was strange how he pivoted to talking about Vardy.

I suspect he's trying to keep Vardy's morale up.

No question Kel would score 20 in a season given the chance.Where we would end up in the league however?Must be an age thing but if it was1986 he’d be whacked up top.Play crap a lot whilst not tracking back, miss loads of sitters and half the time you wouldn’t even know he was there. No one would care though because he’d score 20 goals a season. We used to call players like that centre forwards.

Kelechi needs to play in a front two, I think that's clear by now. His best performances have all come with Vardy. He's not a Vardy replacement, he's a squad player to use alongside a proper striker.

New contract?

If nacho is on £80k a week, I doubt we'd give him a bigger contract or the same, and unless he extends his contract on less we'd have to move him on to get some money for him, I can't see him here next season

Anyone else think he’s had enough decent spells now to be considered a good signing, all things considered?

If he stays next year then that’s 5mill a season plus wages. With a decent goals+assists record when played. Can’t do much more with Vardy being in front of you.

Rodgers isn’t having him. Watch his post-match interview on sky...

The interviewer tees him up with a question about Iheanacho’s form and he quickly says he’s working hard and then proceeds to eulogise about Vardy and talk about the team shape.

Compare that with a question on Tielemans just seconds later and he talks at length about the quality of the player and his performance.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see him on his way in the summer.

I just noticed this myself. Literally barely compliments Iheanacho but then moves on to praise Vardy for his efforts!

I don't understand why he dislikes him so much? For me he has been our biggest threat in the past two matches. He is creative and can finish.

If we are to compete both in the league and in Europe next season we need 3 strikers. Perez isn't really a striker and we don't seem to have any strikers in the youth teams ready to step-up so unless we are planning on signing 2 strikers in the summer, surely we need to keep Iheanacho. But unless we are planning on offering him a new deal and then him actually signing it, we'd need to sell him or risk losing him for nothing next summer. Like others have said though, Rodgers doesn't seem overly keen on him and his gametime is possibly out of necessity as we have nobody else as opposed to Rodgers actually rating him. Again, as others have said, Iheanacho is better in a 2 rather than a loan striker but we know that when Rodgers has a full squad to choose from, he hardly ever plays with 2 strikers so it does seem Iheanacho just doesn't fit in a Rodgers system.

Im Probably overanalysing it but I think you may be giving Rodgers man-management a disservice. I’ve noticed he waxes lyrical about some lads and is very quiet in his interviews about others. The more experienced lads he’s incredibly vocal about and the younger/fringe lads he tends to play down. Im wondering if it’s a deliberate tactic to keep some boys’ feet firmly on the ground. Just a thought

Most frustrating player in the world.

Capable of great goals and skills one minute, then for the next 30 minute his first touch is a tackle.

Easy to forget he's only 24, seems to have been here a life time.

That's for the manager to bring out. I think he is the classic case of a confidence player. Rodgers might be working him up to his full potential (or he might just be grateful he's doing quite well despite having no faith in him)

He seems to have been around for ages doesn’t he , 24 isn’t exactly young for other positions but definitely is when it come to strikers . Only a handful are consistent  at a youngish age

Last season he got 10 goals in 26 appearances.

Not so bad for a squad player.

He seems like he is a confidence player, needs a arm around him every now and then.

Time for us to back him and BR to put that confidence in him.

Said it back in Jan, the lad is a confidence player.

Seems to have found that confidence, another beautiful finish tonight.

His goals in the last two games could be massive when it comes to getting a top 4 spot.

He is doing the job Vardy should be at the moment scoring important goals for us, not many strikers have done that in the past for us.

Let's keep supporting him.

Pure wisdom. But I genuinely can't be bothered to look. I'm just happy that he is playing well.

Brilliant Kel, so pleased to see him playing well and thank god he has stepped up when we are so lacking with attacking players. Well done Kel 👏👏👏

I replied to the poll where 75% of you wanted him out of the club only weeks a go but I think it's in the hidden transfer forum! In the bin the lot of you!

He's a goalscorer, if you build your attacking team around him he would score plenty. Benefits him having Vardy alongside him occupying the defenders.

Brilliant or atrocious in equal measure at times but he's always capable of getting a goal if he can be picked out.
