But to say BR didn't designate a penalty taker before the match is an insult to one of the most thorough and prepared managers in world football. Now you are being silly. Yes he's good but he's also been shown up in recent games. But it's a matter of opinion.
Chrysalis Posted 28 December 2019 Posted 28 December 2019 I only mentioned it as it was brought up, I agree its not that important for the game as it happened early.

StanSP Posted 28 December 2019 Posted 28 December 2019 So we never doubted Rodgers' decision right...? I did say we would win Puts us in a very good position for Newcastle on Wednesday now. Back to full strength but some players today really did well despite not playing regularly. Justin especially was very good. Albrighton seemed decent and back to normal performance levels. It was a very poor West Ham side and you can only beat what's in front of you. We'd have been moaning long in to the night if we'd lost so gotta give them credit for getting the result. Rodgers plan worked! Trust in Brendan!

Our reserve side was a lot better than any of us anticipated. Superb result. Sorry, but no chicken or goat, you can take my wife instead if you want, pretty sure she wont mind too much.
baldeagle Posted 28 December 2019 Posted 28 December 2019 People moaning about Gray taking the penalty and it shouldn’t have been him . I didn’t see anyone else stepping up or taking responsibility. If it wasn’t supposed to be him than surely Wes as captain would have stopped him .

As I said thankfully we got away with it today.

And you being an ex-pro is irrelevant.
ramadaone Posted 28 December 2019 Posted 28 December 2019 Just had a quick look at the match thread and nice to see wellar54 is still making a complete cock of himself disabled

I think him taking a penalty today was a one off unless it’s a shoot out, he’s not going to be consistently taking pens.

Michael Owen spent a lifetime in the game as a professional and he thinks Jamie Vardy isn't a natural finisher, Graeme Souness played AND managed at the highest level and he thought we'd ruin England's European coefficient and Mark Lawrenson is a former European Cup winner whose current league predictions have us below Arsenal and Villa 10th. Oh and Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho wouldn't get in Boston United's reserves at their best. So don't come here with that shit.

Good result though and some decent performances. So BR made the right call. An apt summary. Felt like our first half left something to be desired, even as we outplayed them.

Corky Posted 28 December 2019 Posted 28 December 2019 Fair play to West Ham for not going with the stock corner flag image to accompany news of a sacking but instead going for a Championship Manager-style "news happening between matches" background.

smr Posted 28 December 2019 Posted 28 December 2019 I think anyone who starts a post by way of referencing west hams pitiful inabilities is doing a disservice to the, what by all accounts, sounded like a superb team and individual performance from what may as well be classified as our reserve team. Choudhury and Mendy in the dm sounds like a solid unit to build some players around. Looking forward to match choice.
