Grealish to make Madders look like a league 1 player again?

To be fair, in the 3 games we've played them this season Maddison has done well. 2 assists when we beat them 4-1 and then if it weren't for their keepers obscene heroics in either leg Maddison ought to have got 4 or 5 goals. England pulled off 5 unbelievable saves and then the obvious penalty we didn't get from him too.

Albrighton has admitted that we underestimated Villa in the Carabao SF. Hard to believe that in today's professional Prem scene a manager can send a team out onto the pitch believing that their opponents will be easy.

He also says "we won't make the same mistake on Monday". Promises, promises ...

The first 19 games of the season (up to Villa, away, early december) we were BRILLIANT!

The last 18 games (bar matches v lower league opposition and  v the useless Hammers) we have been ABSOLUTELY DIRE.

Can only see a Villa win.

Rot set in Norwich home.

We haven't been dire , generally our defence has been pretty sound , apart from the games against the top two of course. We have struggled to score that is the major problem but we always knew that if Vardy had issues it would be a major blow. When a team has an extended drop in form there is only one place to look so criticising individual players is not the answer , we have been here before of course.

All your points are spot on! To be fair  the defence has been pretty good and, having looked at it, another 9 goals in that 'dire' period ( and that's only one every other game) could have gained us an extra 11 points and probably got us to a cup final! Maybe shows we should've got a loan striker in the january window. Shows our reliance on JV  (only one Vardy goal in those 18 matches)

a wide player is what we need, If Perez is played upfront he would score more goals imo

I haven't seen this claim but did Abrighton say/allude to Rodgers being responsible for that attitude or have you just assumed it?

What i just cannot fathom is why the likes of Maddison, YT, Chilwell etc seem to be so off the boil at the minute. With the Euros coming up, you would have thought that they would all be going full tilt to impress their respective national coaches and cement their places.  I do wonder sometimes if there is an element of trying too hard.  Maddison seems to be coming deep on the left flank more and more looking for the ball, Youri seeking to play the killer ball all the time, which is not coming off at the minute, Chilwell playing "safe" rather than taking his man on.  When everyone stuck to their positions and the game plan we were a well oiled machine. There may well be a touch of complacency crept in due to our apparently secure position, maybe a loss of confidence after the poor xmas period, motivation also when it was abundantly clear that there would be no title race, but this should not be the case.  There are still high stakes to play for.  Maddison for one really needs to strut his stuff where it matters, ie in the hole behind the striker(s), this is his last chance to impress in direct competition to Grealish if he wants that Euros slot. This would also give a bit more space for Youri to work in and also someone to link him with the forwards.

Whilst the most important thing is for us to get three points and the win, if we can somehow put in a real performance, then I really do believe that it will do wonders for moral and will kick start us into a final flourish and secure 3rd place

If he is, someone should tell him it's not working.

Yeah, maybe. Also perhaps he realises that he is not going to get into Southgate's thinking so has lost a bit of his Mojo?

We're bereft of confidence and are having no luck whatsoever.

We need to get a win somehow to turn this round.

Maybe it's our turn for a dodgy VAR call or two in our favour.

We want revenge for the League Cup exit and we need to play ourselves into some form for the run in. we can't keep scraping, we need a performance , something to suggest it will be good for the next few fixtures to keep ourselves on track for the top four.

If Ndidi and Vardy are fully fit I expect a decent win.

Although I do worry about our panic mode in the last 5 mnutes on Wednesday!

Whether it was lack of confidence in his knee, lack of match fitness or plain rustiness, I thought Wilf was way off his standard against Birmingham. We need to cut the fella some slack as he gets back to business as usual.

Huge game, win and we go somewhere towards restoring confidence. Defeat/draw and it gets harder to break the mind set. Every game a cup final now, players will need to show their aggressive side to match Villa. Champions league would be massive for our club, cant lose that now.
