I don’t think you can compare them

as players though really, one was scraping the barrel with us in league one and lower end of the championship when we were at our lowest, which saw his best performances for us. It was others who drove us to a higher level and he became less involved the higher we went.

 

Izzett was a regular for a team top end of championship and top 10 prem team. Two promotions, 3 cup finals, Europe twice, World Cup semi final.


You can’t deny his (King) involvement in what happened, he still played a part of course.  But If King was a regular starter like Izzet in the prem then I doubt we’d be achieving what we have, because he wasn’t good enough for that regular starting spot, and that’s why managers constantly tried to replace him.
 

Not trying to slate then bloke, he was just more and more a peripheral figure after Pearson came back until he left.

 

I get why some love him, because we were at our lowest and he was a shining light. And he went on the journey with us from lowest to highest, and was one of the few consistent figures.

He won't retire next summer because we'll go and offer him a one year extension because of a decent performance he puts in against a rubbish side near the end of the season

He’ll probably end up at somewhere like Peterborough.

I imagine Kingy might feel a little embarrassed to be training back with us after everyone gave him such an emotional send off.

 

It's a bit like your ex booting you out then shacking up with a new bloke but letting you use the spare room cos your homeless while you can hear them shagging in the next room.

A Leicester legend, in every sense of the word but his time at the top and nearly top level is about done I reckon.

King, Simpson, Silva and Slimani are all training with the U23s.

 

PS.

My nephew, a GK in the U11 academy, met King and Simpson at the training ground over the weekend.

They were amazing with the kids (who were all understandably buzzing meeting football heroes) and Simpson even followed my nephew on Instagram (but don't ask me why an 11yo has Insta!!)

I text both players to thank them and they replied how nice and respectful all the kids were.

Doesn't take much to do these things but not all in football do. King and Simpson are genuine blokes and respect to them for that.

League One pay Tesco wages to their plsyer.  King was on circa £35,000 here. Most Championship clubs don't even pay that to their star player, nevermind a,32 year old who long past his best. He would have to take over 70% pay cut to even get a mid/lower end Championship club to look at him.

He's 32 and Huddersfield didn't want to keep him on the back of a loan move.

My view is now if your over 30 its going to be a huge struggle to get contracts as a pro footballer

 

look through the list of our of work footballs 90 percent of them are over 30

 

teams want young players who can run all day in a game which now obsesses with pressing at times over the art of kicking a ball about

 

King can pass well but his running stats wont match  a 21 year olds that is hurting him i'd imagine

He understands given the world situation that it's tough to get a contract anywhere.

Just wants to play football, still training with lcfc U23s.

Spoke very positively about Brendan Rodgers, even though he didn't feature much under him.

I mentioned the piece in The Times where he criticised Puel's behaviour. I thought he'd gone two-footed on him but it seems what he said in the article was actually pretty gentle...
