I've watched Burnley perhaps 6 or 7 times this season when they've been on TV and DM has always stood out. I really hope the interest is genuine.

Worth remembering that we've been ****ing dreadful from set pieces this season and this lad could make a huge difference in that regard IMHO.

I feel it’s a low risk purchase myself. If we buy him for £30m and he’s bobbins, 3 years later we’d be able to sell for £20m

..so he will at best be on the bench....getting paid £60k a week for the next 2 years!!!

While every purchase is a gamble, we do not want to be going down the Slimani, Silva,Ghezall  line as it eats into our wage bill. It appears inflation has impacted on the game and ironically the opposite was beng forecast prior to the new window opening.

I can't think of Peter Beardsley without thinking of Baddiel and Skinner on Fantasy Football League.

Skinner: "People say that Peter Beardsley is ugly but when he played for England I didn't even notice his face..."

How would this be ballsing it up? The guy is really highly rated. Clubs like arsenal, man city and united have been scouting him. Always good to go off what opposition fans think and Burnley would be absolutely gutted to lose him and for all the high horses on here they still finished mid table yet again.

Because the right wing is our weakest area, we spent going to be spending £30-40m on competition for left wing. McNeil has never played on the right except for the occasional game so as far as recruiting in a left footed right winger goes, this is way down the list of obvious options.

Good news - I know Dwight McNeil's cousin.

Bad news - they are estranged, so he knows as much as we do.

We’re still thinking of the good news...

At just 20 he could easily be converted to the right side. I don’t think it’d be a case of he can’t play there, just Burnley’s tactics. Either way we need a left wing option as well as a right as Barnes won’t play 60 games next year.

But thats a huge if isn't it? If it was as simple as that you'd never need purchade specialist wingers, just lob them on either side and expect them to produce the goods.

The fact is right wing is a huge problem of ours since Mahrez left. Perez has turned out to be not 100% suited to what we need out there and yet we've fans seemingly OK with blowing the large majority of our budget on a winger in the hope they can convert to the opposite wing? Why take that risk? If we can't get Trincao, get Brooks, Stengs, Tysgankov

Think he’d be a different prospect in a more attack minded team cutting in from the right. Rather than playing on the left in a Dyche flat midfield four whipping in crosses from the left.

Think he’s got all the attributes to be a good right sided forward for us, still only 20 with 60 apps in the PL already and a dozen assists, and would hopefully grab more goals being able to cut in on his favoured left foot as well, just like his two goals last season.

Only thing I can’t decide is who I’d prefer out of Trincao, McNeil and Brooks?!?

Either way looks like the club is actively pursuing a left footed winger which is surely a good thing.

40 games this season 2 goals and 6 assists.

It's a no from me, we needs a right winger.

Someone who is fast and can take on his man.

Move Ricardo higher up, if Albrighton is willing to play behind him on the right?

He’s either a smoke screen or we’ve given up on signing Trincão. H does whip a lot of crosses in but part of me thinks that is simply because of how Dyche wants to play the game.

He looks like he’s got a bit more about him in regards to seeing a pass and he has shown the ability to score cutting in from the right wing. He’s gonna cost a lot of money in my book but he’s got the physical capabilities, he’s a big strong athletic lad.

Anything under £40 million I would say is fair.

He only stands out because he's at Burnley and its unlike them to have a footballer, anywhere else and no one would be fussed. He's also as prolific a scorer as Albrighton.

If he was Spanish and played for Barca you’d be all over it

Is he any good? Very rarely watch any games involving Burnley as usually games I give a miss, can’t remember him doing much against us either! Age and position fit what we need!

He’s good .....vards will be well excited at the thought of crosses actually directed at him ......

Vards is regularly surrounded (largely isolated by our system) by bigger defenders in the opposition box. So, unless we are planning on bringing back Slimani () or signing someone else of similar ariel ability, high crosses into the box should not be a primary plan of attack for us (Plan C or D perhaps), and thus should not be a principal consideration for acquiring players.

If you watch clips of McNeil his assists and key passes are actually mostly crosses along the ground, something which a lot of our wingers struggle with, and in fact only Ricardo in our squad is usually accurate at firing those balls in from the byline.

I read an article about breaking the low block a while ago which said that the  generally most effective way of scoring against defensive teams is getting to the byline and cutting balls back. If Maddison and Tielemans can create the build-up to get a player like McNeil there, I would back him to deliver the accurate ball to Vardy to finish.

That's good then. Not surprisingly, I do not watch a lot of Burnley games. lol

Almost every club has its wingers switch sides for some amount of a game. I don’t know why it’s so impossible for McNeil to play mainly on the right side.

Perez is just not a winger— it doesn’t matter which side we put him on, he’s always been his best as a second striker.
