Lambert09 Posted 30 August 2020 Posted 30 August 2020 We’ve all been struggling to deal with swapping champions league football for EL. Now the rumours have dropped from Tagliafico to Targett. It got me thinking about past players who we’ve all expected to be trash, but actually ended up being pretty good. Let’s bring some optimisin back with some stories of previous ‘targett’s’ that turned out to be Taggart’s. Ill start with an obvious one, Albrighton. An uninspiring free agent.
Stuntman_Mike Posted 30 August 2020 Posted 30 August 2020 Dean Hammond, at the time was perfect for us. Underrated really.
davieG Posted 30 August 2020 Posted 30 August 2020 Muzzy who? How is that going to improve us? Was what I said to MrsG when we signed him
Blue-fox Posted 30 August 2020 Posted 30 August 2020 1. Wes Morgan 2. Kisnorbo 3. Marcus Bent( for the one season we had him)
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 30 August 2020 Posted 30 August 2020 Tony Cottee. Out to pasture in Malaysia when we bought him, but scored some important goals.
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 30 August 2020 Posted 30 August 2020 A few old heads we picked up in league 1/championship. Guys like Marc Edworthy, Nobby Solano, Dean Hammond and GTF. Their age etc. Made them seem quite uninspiring but each played a part in our history. We should have another thread on players who came with hype but failed.
Brooksy Posted 30 August 2020 Posted 30 August 2020 Kevin Phillips. Scored a couple of goals and did a job at 40 years old. What a man
Blue ROI Posted 30 August 2020 Posted 30 August 2020 N'Didi. Looked like another of those dodgy post-Pearson signings. Probably our first major success in transfers for 18 months. What a player.
Corky Posted 30 August 2020 Posted 30 August 2020 Jonny Evans looked like he was running through treacle on his debut. Wondered why teams like Arsenal were bidding £20 million for him.
UniFox21 Posted 30 August 2020 Posted 30 August 2020 Kasper strangely. Before signing him, my main knowledge of him was being a young keeper sold by Man City and losing his temper frequently. I remember watching us play Leeds and him coming racing out and should've been sent off
Stadt Posted 30 August 2020 Posted 30 August 2020 I wasn’t enamoured with the Fuchs signing. Cracking business on a free.
KFS Posted 30 August 2020 Posted 30 August 2020 4 minutes ago, Swarles Barkley said: Sir GTF the beast Was going to be my shout. Remember he bossed Chelsea in a midfield two with Hammond
Aus Fox Posted 30 August 2020 Posted 30 August 2020 Don’t know if I expected him to be terrible but 7 million for Kante?
