CITY V Burnley POST MATCH 4-2

Recommended Posts

We were good.  Clearly we have much quality and a decent squad.

Evans return will be welcome.  Justin is a good player but is he a left back?  But... easy to forget he has very little premier league experience.  Glad to see Perez's assist - thought he was a bit slow applying his decisions before that.

Earlier in this thread, there was a disparaging comment about McNeill.  I thought he was class and would have fitted very well into our squad.

Positives:

The belgian mob were different class

Barnes was different gravy as I've banged on about since I joined this forum

Great performance in terms of going forward

Great start to the season on the whole, picking up points against these sides was a struggle so far in 2020 so hopefully the tide has turned

Negatives:

Gave too much away at the back and a better side would have punished those mistakes

Justin was poor individually for both goals lost. Question marks remain over his defensive capabilities.

A centre back is sorely needed, one more injury there and things look ropey. Added to that the lack of one is making you do without your best midfielder at the moment also.

Be honest, you ****ing love us don't you.

Always room for one more at the kp. 😏

...Youri does not have the ability to take control of the game!!!

Too often the games become open and we have just as much chance of scoring as the opposition. Burnley came back into the game when they should have been out of the picture and with better finishing it could easily have been a draw. Youri just does not have the authority on the pitch to take the sting out of games and control the match, he will have to quickly learn this as Rodgers chose him as his mouthpiece on the pitch.

This is why Youri Tielemans is our club record signing. He's back to his best!

Let’s see if his effectiveness disappears when Maddison walks back into team displacing the excellent Praet and forces Tielemans to play second fiddle. Hopefully Rodgers makes the right call and keep Praet, Tielemans and Mendy. They are the right mix and unfortunately Maddison needs to wait on the bench longer in my opinion - but is Rodgers tough enough to make this call?

WARNING: THE FORTHCOMING POST CONTAINS FILTH THAT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR WORK:

Police in Leicester have been alerted and are currently on the way to the Tielemans household to arrest him for public indecency.

Such a shame that Timmy's cross wasn't knocked in by Vards - would've been a pretty much perfect goal. That deserved better than an Erik Pieters o.g.

Justin, Defo the new scapegoat now Chilwell has gone. Let's forget how he's a right back playing left back, a young lad who was playing league 1 not so long ago. Yes got brushed aside too easily for the 1st goal, but put in a decent performance all round.

Teilemans looks like he's flourishing in midfield without Maddison starting. He's controlling the tempo and playing some lovely stuff. Good to have true competition in the middle, will be a bit disappointed if Madders walks back into the team without having to up his game.

Castagne looks as good as Ricardo both defensively and going forward, be interesting to see if he's shifted left when Ricardo is back and if he's as effective.

This could be Barnes' season, may find himself with an England cap before the season is out.

Perez looked like a man who knows his position in the team is under threat (no pun intended)

Somehow, although we looked a little sloppy at times much like we did last season post lockdown, there's a different feel, we seem to have our swag back, just hope it continues.

Hardly a scapegoat when you’re basically at fault for two goals.

That pass to set up the second opened up a well organised team. A team that was drawing 1-1 with us. That’s a player influencing a game by sheer class.

Worth giving a shout out to Mendy, who I think has been superb in the last two games. Always been a bit part player but when ever he has been called upon he’s been faultless.

Yeah component against Fulham and Burnley, I wouldn’t be so sure against tougher opposition.

We shipped 2 could’ve easily been 3 at home against a team not know for their scoring prowess.

I can”t wait to see Ndidi back in his natural position once Evans is back.

Don't think he had enough of the ball to give an opinion

...not wanting to state the obvious....a skillful and visionary player...goes without saying!!!

We need to get hold of the game and put it to bed, he does not do this and he is the person in the position to do so.

He won't go straight in anyway. You can't sign a 19 year old center back on Thursday and have him squaring up against Aguero, Sterling, mahrez, bernado Silva, foden, torres etc on the Sunday!

No its more security it only takes one injury. Plus I would imagine 3 at the back is the way we will go. Good for incase someone gets injured.
