Think we're just slotting ourselves in as a middle of the road premier league club now. Underwhelming transfer market and timid football. Some nice players in there but pointless when set up the way we do

Got what we deserved, that 2nd half was wretched. 2 home games against 2 bang average teams with zero goals and zero points. I fear us playing Arsenal next week. Cant even get excited about the Zorya game after watching that steaming turd. Not having injuries are to blame, Villa made so many mistakes at the back 1st half and we did **** all about it. Perez is like Dier in the England team. Gets picked every game but nobody has a clue why. And what was the point of throwing Slimani on if they weren't going to put Albrighton on as well. I really fear for our season as that 2nd half on top of the West Ham game was absolutely honking! Sort it out Brendan!

Yes because why did he waste a sub by putting him on for Mendy, who didn't appear injured. Mendy is way more positionally disciplined.

Don't know but if you put a player on to do a job and that player doesn't do that job, you can't put all the fault at the manager's door.

Worryingly that was similar to how we played second half of last season... two home games and no points or goals scored... it is scary times

Have we ever lost 2 home games on the spin under Rodgers?

They stopped us playing any sort of football, always a man in front of schmeichal so we couldn’t counter, going down for every challenge, I think even Moss gave up on the yellows in the end. Goalie should have saved that though, probably lost a contact lense.

These last two performances have been REALLY concerning. After West Ham, I thought it was one of those things.

But Brendan knew for a while we had injuries and it's his job to set up a way to deal with that. I didn't see much here to show me he adapted, in the way he adapted against Man City. It looked like "ok, here's a half fit team let's not lose" and that is a poor attitude. Happy to be proven wrong but I have real concerns if that's what we're putting out.

Best team won.

Positives - the back four.

Praet - we took him off to get more 'creativity' but lost solidity

One day Barnes might have an end product - hope it arrives soon.

Expected more from Under when he came on … oh wait!

Barnes and Perez should have been taken off but Brendan couldn't due to the injury problem.  Hamza doesn't belong in the Premier League. They bring him on to play D mid and Villa ran cleanly through there multiple times at the end of the match.  Only positive was the back line which I thought was excellent.  Totally outplayed in MF.

Tight game.

The one quality moment deserved to decide it.

On to the next one. Quite a few positives to take from tonight.

Forfana looks okay. I hope BR doesn’t go back to a 3 at the back though.

Who was he supposed to bring on?

Not just tonight, I’ve seen too many games like that, where Puel got rightly criticised for this safe crap. Tika taka doesn’t work...

What about after the first 3 games?

To be fair I predicted relegation too, and even

after the first three games I wasn’t convinced.

Let’s be honest. Any manager worth his salt knows how to beat this oh so predictable Rodgers team. Defend in numbers, press us into a sloppy pass as we faff around trying to circulate the ball in our own half, seize possession and run at our retreating out of position defenders. Or win a corner.

Because we sure as sh!t never look like scoring.

So in terms of injuries, it’s only Justin, Mendy and Iheanacho who were weak links and wouldn’t get into our strongest XI today (Fofana too, but he did fine). I’m wondering which of those is the biggest downgrade on what we have - Iheanacho is the obvious answer, but I think the other two are also huge steps down on Ricardo and Ndidi and constitute a big drop off in quality.

Arsenal, Leeds,Wolves and Liverpool the next 4 league games.

Could get messy....

Dreading Leeds. I think they will absolutely tear us apart.

Not as bad a ****ing Nacho, absolute horseshit display from him. Anonymous.

Disagree. Nacho seemed more dangerous than Slim!

Not a whole lot of positive points to make. Happy with Fofana, had a good game. Pleased to have Slim back if he wants to play for us and work his bollocks off, all good in my opinion. He's definitely an alternative threat we desperately need at times - especially extra resources for this season. Other than that, we were pretty much on par if not a little worse than Villa - whilst at home. Which is pretty depressing. I'd of taken 0-0 with Villa's form and our absentees.. :S

Couple of things spring to mind from the game. Grealish never got booked for multiple things, fouls, dives, even elbowed Castagne when Timmy got the ball.. was in disbelief.

We seem to get outthought so easily with quick flicks and turns, sometimes getting too tight to man. Our passing is piss poor still.

Fair play to Villa - I doubt they will play like they have done for a whole season - but still a strong outfit so far.
