Ric Flair Posted 8 November 2020 Posted 8 November 2020 Ive long learnt to let the game play out before picking fault with the team selection but on the face of it it looks devoid of much flair and pace in attack, there's got to be a game plan though so let's see. I suspect if its 0-0 or we are 1-0 down then we get Barnes and Ünder and we go for the jugular when they get frustrated. 1
Dr The Singh Posted 8 November 2020 Posted 8 November 2020 Not bad tactic bringing on the attack in the second half. We seem to better in the second when the he opens up
leicesterseddon Posted 8 November 2020 Posted 8 November 2020 Interesting line-up for sure. First reaction is we lack a bit of width. So clearly BR has some plan or other. Sit in and then attack second half with Barnes and Under?

With only 2 CMs, we might be able to overload in the centre of the park. If Maddison plays like he has the last two games then I’m genuinely hopeful. come on lads 1
AjcW Posted 8 November 2020 Posted 8 November 2020 I think I’ve lost the right to criticise for the time being. Whose to say this isn’t another carefully thought out master plan? Either way that’s a filthy bench and we’re lucky to have that level of options!
Ted Maul Posted 8 November 2020 Posted 8 November 2020 Slightly confusing- no idea how we're going to be set up. Can see there being a big gap between Vardy and the rest. 4-0 win then.
LestaAl Posted 8 November 2020 Posted 8 November 2020 ...Just win it, we want to go top when ‘pool lose.

Wolves are a counter attacking team themselves. They won't leave gaps in behind. Rodgers has selected our most creative players to play between the lines to try to drag their back 3 out of position. Put Barnes and Under on 60 minutes+ when the game becomes stretched. On paper it's the right selection of our attacking players given the opposition we are playing. Our last 3 games with Wolves have been 0-0, they are a very tough nut to crack. 7

oxtonfox Posted 8 November 2020 Posted 8 November 2020 Pretty negative approach, is BR going for the stalemate tactic to get something from this game? I'm not sure that 5 at the back gives us too many options when Wolves work midfield so hard so we'll be pushed back. Not sure that bringing Fuchs in there to semi-coach Thomas is very attack minded. Barnes missing will make their defence breathe more easily swell. More a case of "You have the ball" "No, You have the ball".

Mark Posted 8 November 2020 Posted 8 November 2020 Just no need for Praet to be taking up one of the attacking midfield spots at home
Fox_in_a_Box Posted 8 November 2020 Posted 8 November 2020 I have long stopped worrying about his team selections. Even if it fails hes built up enough trust for me to not even be mad. In B man we trust. Let's go 1
shailen Posted 8 November 2020 Posted 8 November 2020 Makes sense. I'm glad BR has tried to pack all our creative players into the team as Wolves will sit back and try to play us on the counter. We will need Maddison, Tielemans, Praet to create as much as possible.
UHDrive Posted 8 November 2020 Posted 8 November 2020 Thomas is a gamble. Am I the only one that believes playing more regularly than other teams might actually be beneficial? Cohesive and link up play can only get better.
honeybradger Posted 8 November 2020 Posted 8 November 2020 Havent been a fan of our lineups for a while but we keep on winning so what do i know. Preference would definitely be one of barnes/under in for fuchs though and maybe the other for praet.

jeffschlupp Posted 8 November 2020 Posted 8 November 2020 Playing wingers against these never works, because they can double up on you with a wide CB and a wing-back. Praet and Maddison will stay fairly narrow and are both better at keeping the ball in tight areas than Barnes or Under are likely to be. They will probably look to counter against us which means we will need to keep the ball well and be patient. It is probably going to be Puel-style football that will carve out chances to win it. A draw is a very good result against these, anyway. You have lots of pace on the bench as and when required.
deanolegend1989 Posted 8 November 2020 Posted 8 November 2020 Not a fan of this particularly. 5 at the back is not how I’d go but we will see. My only gripe will be If we go behind he needs to react quick and change it. It feels like a game they will knick some sh*t goal and then shit house us. 1
