Popular Post martyn Posted 14 March 2021 Popular Post Posted 14 March 2021 Not worried about Ricardo. He needs a good preseason and time to get his confidence back after such a bad injury (assuming he stays with us). He isn't playing badly by any means, but he's missing that short burst of acceleration and explosiveness at the moment, which is what made him such an outstanding attacking full back. 9
Heymister2015 Posted 14 March 2021 Posted 14 March 2021 Even if he is ok! I’d leave him out for the fa cup

Completely agree with this but what we did see today was a couple of those absolutely quality cut backs to the edge of the box. His decision making in the final third really is something else. 1

Agreed a blessing in disguise although nobody will admit it when he came off

Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 19 March 2021 Posted 19 March 2021 He needs a full pre season to get fully back on track doesn't he. At the minute he looks half a yard off the pace and lacks that explosive acceleration he had before the injury which is to be expected. If JJ hadn’t got injured he would of been eased back in more gradually but he’s almost been thrown in at the deep end with our injury crisis and is picking up additional niggles because of this. 1

Crazy Kop Corner Posted 20 March 2021 Posted 20 March 2021 He’s a real thoroughbred. An absolutely beautiful footballer to watch. Get him on a new deal ASAP

coolhandfox Posted 18 April 2021 Posted 18 April 2021 Just now, dayday said: What’s gone wrong?, looks 1/2 the player he was. 8 months out........... 1
FoxyJim1987 Posted 18 April 2021 Posted 18 April 2021 He does not look fit to me, something isn't right with him. Seems to have lost pace and his touch and passing is wel off. He is obviously not as good on the left either. Hope it's just a case of getting back into it after such a bad injury but it's a bit worrying tbh.
AyewJoking Posted 18 April 2021 Posted 18 April 2021 I thought he often played within himself, even before the injury. Really he should be grateful he's back playing at all, just needs time.. 1
honeybradger Posted 18 April 2021 Posted 18 April 2021 He was one of my favourite players before his injury and arguably our best player, we all know what's he's capable of, just needs some time
StanSP Posted 18 April 2021 Posted 18 April 2021 5 minutes ago, dayday said: What’s gone wrong?, looks 1/2 the player he was. A serious injury. A serious injury where most players take ages (and I mean longer than a few months back) to get back to their best form, if they ever do. It'll take a while for him to recover and show consistency. It's not just a physical peak they have to recover to, it's mentally. An injury like that plays on the mind more than you can imagine. I don't mean this in a patronising way but if you've never had that kind of injury it's hard to comprehend how it can shatter your confidence and how long it can take to build that back up. 1
Ric Flair Posted 18 April 2021 Posted 18 April 2021 Don't think he should start again this season, he was a huge nuisance to us 1st half. Castagne finally had a quality half on the left and I'd rather Thomas get some starts if Albrighton isn't going to be picked and do whatever Ricardo needs to do off the field to get back. 1
SouthStandUpperTier Posted 18 April 2021 Posted 18 April 2021 Looks to me like he doesn't trust that his knee is 100% yet. That's not going to happen by dropping him. The confidence will only return by playing him through this spell. 1
Wolfox Posted 18 April 2021 Posted 18 April 2021 He’s out of sorts if anyone deserves a bit of patience it’s him…. No guarantees he’ll be the same player again…. But, he needs minutes and confidence to find out if he’s still ‘got it’
dayday Posted 18 April 2021 Posted 18 April 2021 Playing him out of position will not help his confidence, it was so obvious after 20 minutes it wasn’t working. Brendan needs to make a decision, play Thomas at LB and Castagne at RB, or Ricardo at RB and Castagne at LB. 1
Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 18 April 2021 Posted 18 April 2021 I think neither he or Timmy offer a great deal as LWBs. Both are more comfortable and show their true talent marauding on the right. So I'm not going to be overly critical with him today. However he is a long way off the explosive and confident player of the pre injury era. Hopefully we see that again next season.
