Is there still a limit of 5 teams from a nation in the Champions League even if one is a wildcard? What happens if, lets say:

Man City win the League, Liverpool 2nd, Tottenham 3rd, Leicester 4th.

Chelsea finish 8th but win the Champions League (or Europa League) so they qualify. Manchester United finish 9th but they get given a wildcard as one of the highest ranking non-qualifiers. Would that mean that our place would be given to them?

Don't worry, in this imaginary scenario they were still in a 2 horse race for the title right up until the final weeks of the season

their ideology, with the backing of sell out European Club owners..!!!

And some people want us finish to 4th just to get a few Champions League crumbs over seeing us lift the FA Cup.

Actually this makes me want it even more and makes me even more want other clubs like us to do it eason after season after season. Then these so-called big clubs wouldn't all be able to get in on past perfomances from 10 years ago. The sooner the so-called big six is dismantled in this country the better.

The whole thing is an absolute disgrace pandering to the failing "giants" of European football.

I suspect the rules would then be changed to disqualify us or a team like us to ensure Man utd got in and then changed back the following season to accomodate any other failing team.

Arsenal probably won’t be in Europe next season, we will be.

the coefficient is based over a 5 year period, we probably have a higher coefficient than Arsenal by 2024 so more chance this benefits us than them

...then, we become a part of the problem.....!!!

Leicester winning the league broke football.

It was broke a long time before that, however that broke open the cracks that were always waiting to happen since the early 2000s.

How dare anyone challenge the money men.

This isn’t a sport anymore, it’s a farce.

I say, take your stupid ****ing owners and clubs to a super league and don’t come back. They will take the money and after a few years it will get boring and it’ll die. The owners will milk it for what it’s worth and the clubs will be the ones who suffer.

The other 86 league clubs, reform and make REAL football again. Make new rules to protect the league by not allowing any changes to the game and make football a sport again and not a business for greedy business men who don’t give a **** about anyone but themselves.

Shameful decision, no doubt made by a bunch of old timers who are terrified that football is not as kind to the so called elite as it once was. Football like most things now is dying a pitiful death.

“Wild card entries allow teams with high co-efficiency to qualify if they are unable to do so through their domestic league”

Have you ever read a more backwards and embarrassing sentence in football?

It’s like a petulant 13 year old has added a reset button to football that they can hit when they **** things up.

That’s called the power button. Ironic.

Two wildcards is the start, it will be 4 next and then 6 and so on.

It'll be like Goran Ivanisevic winning Wimbledon 2001.

What a fairytale awaits

So from what I’m reading all other clubs have to make significant changes for the greedy few

Wrong whether or not we are part of the revamped arrangement

And they can stick their wildcards up their arse !

I haven't read the report tbh, but how does this affect  the Celtics, Shakthars, Ajax etc who qualify every year? If they have an off season, can they use the wildcard system to apply for a place?

Or s it purely to bail out AC Milan and Arsenal?

Looking forward to the likes of Guardiola and Klopp complaining about the future extra fixtures when they’re asked about them in their press conferences this week.

And crying that they’ve only got 24 players that cost £100 million each because they’ve sucked up ALL the fuching TV money along with the other bloated slime.

Why not take the eight teams with the highest coefficient not qualified and then play a mini tournament to get the two qualifiers?

Dont get me wrong a lot of this is cooked up by Agnelli.

However it greatly assists a club like Ajax - Van de Sar has said to be very vocal in being for it.

In essence the 32 teams remain qualifying as currently plus another couple (great news for the teams you mention), then throw in a couple of wildcards to save big clubs who are playing shit.

If they had their way, I’d have a Euroleague Basketball system where the top 10 clubs have like ‘licenses’.

Its total bullshit. All the other clubs and UEFA should just call their bluff.

We had if before when UEFA did their bullshit second group phase system.

Id rather they kept 32 teams and just made the final 8 teams in two groups or something. The CL is largely a chore in the group stages and only comes good in the knockout two leg format
