lcfc_forever Posted 4 August 2023 Posted 4 August 2023 Interesting to see how journalists have interpreted Enzo’s comments - the question on Souttar was asked by Jason Bourne as he’d heard his future at the club was uncertain: 1

It may not be relevant in your case, but over time I've seen lots of people justify their defence of underperforming managers by speaking of players as substandard, unworthy of patience, and largely responsible for whatever malaise we find ourselves in, and in doing so they believe that they're more tolerant than those who question the boss instead. Loyalty surely applies to both! For me, this seems like one of those moments where there's a danger that you're adhering to the preferences of a manager who may or may not have a viable plan, as opposed to a player who potentially has a lot to offer. I’m fully expecting an average season to be honest as it’s going to take time for him to get his ideas across and get the players he wants in .It’s not so much lack of patience with him I just not fussed by him or want for a better word indifferent . 1
Popular Post Dahnsouff Posted 4 August 2023 Popular Post Posted 4 August 2023 Nothing story, caused by a journalist asking a pointed question, the vague answer for which allowed the journalists to say therefore he is on his way out. 8
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 4 August 2023 Posted 4 August 2023 Wonder how much money we'll lose on him in the space of 7 months

Popular Post Bluearmyfox28 Posted 4 August 2023 Popular Post Posted 4 August 2023 I’ve not long listened to Enzo’s press conference and to be honest I think journalists have made a bullshit narrative regarding his comments on Souttar. Throughout the press conference Maresca kept stating “whilst the window is open anything can happen” he was then asked about Souttar and basically gave the same answer of, whilst the window is open players will naturally leave. I think he specifically avoided getting into details about specifics and answered the question as the whole squad rather than an individual. He did say the squad is currently too big though. 6
Popular Post Dan Posted 4 August 2023 Popular Post Posted 4 August 2023 I feel a bit for him but he's clearly not fancied by the coaching staff and I would sooner cash in while we have a chance than the usual piss around for 3 years and loan out to Torinozlispor. I'm not quite getting him being below Vestergaard in the pecking order though. 5
Ian Nacho Posted 4 August 2023 Posted 4 August 2023 I feel like this is a case of lost in translation. I interpret it is a statement that could apply to any of the players. 4

Like a lot of so called fans instead of supporting the players rather just be quick to jump on the bandwagon of hate. I think he will be a top defender in the championship but I've got a lot of hope in Daka as well so maybe my opinion counts for nothing 😆 Well, I hope you're right about Vestergaard. If he can finally secure a spot and play well, then I'll be pleased for him.

If he state's he's expecting a number of players to leave this window, it always becomes difficult when asked about individuals. He denies one player is leaving and inference is taken when a load more names are thrown at him. 1
Wolfox Posted 5 August 2023 Posted 5 August 2023 Baffling… He was, by any measure, our most effective defender when he was on the pitch second half of the season…

AS78UK Posted 5 August 2023 Posted 5 August 2023 He bossed the Championship for Stoke last year....before we brought him. Personally would rather keep him and give him a chance. 3

Personally would rather keep him and give him a chance. Stoke don’t play an expansive style of football, Souttar looks to excel in a low block defensive style, which just shows what an absolute car crash our recruitment was in January. It’s clear he was identified due to his height and physicality, we were honking at defending and attacking set pieces so we have identified a player who is tall and gives a presence in both areas, but without really identifying that he doesn’t really fit in a defence that wants to play a high line. Absolutely amateurish from top to bottom for this signing to have been identified, ratified and completed. Feel for Souttar as he has clearly been thrown under a bus by the manager at the time who has identified a profile of player that does not fit with our style of play. The similarities with Vestergard are unbelievable. 5
An Sionnach Posted 5 August 2023 Posted 5 August 2023 Souttar, Faes, Kristiansen and Tete , all heroes on here for five minutes. Is this going to happen to this windows additions as well ?

LCFCABC Posted 5 August 2023 Posted 5 August 2023 Just stopped for a chat with him on the way to the training ground this evening. Doesn’t know if he’s playing tomorrow. said they’ve had a good pre season training wise. Didn’t mention he was leaving but didn’t want to push. imagine they are all at the training ground tonight meeting and announcing the team for tomorrow
