With the secrecy that King Power likes to cover all their operations in, it wouldn’t surprise me if this  news wasnt coming out until AFTER extensive negotiations had already taken place…

Seeing as this was first mentioned in the FT, and we’ve heard of a Middle East consortium, it’s highly likely this is Citigroup leaking it after one offer is in, or after no one has offered and they’re adding a layer of a believable lie, to generate interest.

Don't want to be a bearer of bad news but reports out here in Thailand are it's all fake news.

Hope they are wrong,

It would be very unlikely the FT to post a story without it being thoroughly fact checked and verified from multiple sources so think its pretty certain KP have asked Citi bank to look into it. The stuff with the unnamed middle Eastern investor though could be rubbish

I suppose from a sellers point of view, if word gets out you’re trying to sell, you’d be concerned buyers might try and low-ball you. I mean, we are not talking about a couple of grand on a car here, but millions and millions of pounds in price difference..

It would be such a substantially damaging claim that if there was no truth in it, the club would have released a statement condemning the 'news', if it was inaccurate

They are also selling because theyve properly messed it up both on the pitch and off the pitch financially.

The group of fans being rightfully annoyed by the downfall hasnt played a big role in them finally exploring selling  their own incompetence has lead to it  even if people refuse to believe it.

I am not sure they would, their stance has always been to keep quiet over all, real news or fake news

Nah, it's up for sale. To big to ignore. The FT would have consulted the club before their article. They are not sensationalist tabloid chasing headlines

So King Power sell us to unsuitable new owners because they're no longer fit to run the club and it's the fans fault?

They would also be to blame for selling us to the wrong people.

You’ve missed the point. My point is there is no satisfactory ownership arrangement that is going to come from KP divesting the club, because we don’t make sense to purchase. It’s about pragmatism.

I am not saying it's not true, Just as a response to your message about the fact that the club would have released a statement, I just don't think they do that with regards to to any noise (from any source)

For what it's worth I think it is true and there would no smoke without fire, also you are correct the FT is reputable and would have not posted something without there being something there

And - realistically- what do your foresee happening now assuming we’re sold?

I'm not sure there are any reputable journalists left, even the FT.

Sacking all the utterly useless, underqualified, overpromoted ****s who have been here for 10 years + behind the scenes would be an excellent start.
