TAA was still sold for cash so that’s not the best example, and players left for free that we should have got good money for, the specifics aren’t really needed. We ****ed up, end of.

I suspect none of us can answer that either way. His experience in the game in this field does stand up. I think it's fair that interested parties in us would not be known, as Tommy says they'd likely be bound by disclosures. But potential valuations is probably easier to find out given what the FT said on the CitiGroup being tasked with supporting this.

 

He did say a few weeks back it's rumoured Top has provided assurance on the requisite funds to meet SCMP rules this season so it's not a negative agenda he's trying to push.

He was effectively free, they paid a fee to get him slightly earlier. He’s a very good example, he’s a Liverpool fan (our players didn’t support the club as kids) and could have signed a years extension and earned his beloved club a fee, he chose not to.

You can’t force a player to leave if they are determined to run down their contract for a signing on fee or larger salary with their next club.

Isn’t the another debt to equity swap? So it’s writing off that money rather than anything new? KP have done that a lot, it helps the clubs cash flow by removing loan repayments and interest but it doesn’t really mean that much materially.

its nothing new but it was in response to the questions asked,

 

At the time, wiping out that £124m in January 2025 was almost certainly done to clear the decks and make the club a much more attractive proposition for outside investment or a minority sale, little did they know it would be followed by a catastrophic double relegation to League One

 

By converting a combined £318m into equity since 2022 alone, both King Power as a company and Top personally have permanently trapped that cash inside the club. As the majority shareholder of the group, Top bears the absolute brunt of this, but it's a massive hit for the whole corporate family

Selling the entire club now for a (rumored on here) £140m means walking away with less than half of the money they collectively pumped in over the last few years. It is an absolute financial disaster for King Power and the family, and there's no way anyone involved is happy with that valuation.

I have little sympathy, he didn’t even pull the trigger on Rudkin late last season.

I suspect he is out of options and things with King Power are truly dire and he just has to cut his losses now or it will only get worse.

The city as a local authority is going to have it's boundaries grow but nobody's really going to consider Syston, Countesthorpe, Glenfield, Anstey, LFE, etc an actual part of Leicester any more than they do now. The city's population is going to go up a bit but the county's is going to come down.

 

Some cities are already like that. Technically the boundaries of the city of Bradford go all the way up to Ilkley but nobody is going to really sensibly consider that actual Bradford. Wakefield and Leeds are similar. 

 

It's also worth noting that quite a few local government areas are getting reshuffled and we won't be the only city potentially growing like that.

 

The boundary growth aspect shouldn't have happened, especially with the perceived very little improvement that Peter Soulsby has made to Leicester itself during his tenure plus the general public should've had a say on it via a key vote system.
