On the basis of that today, Newcastle are in for a long, hard, horrible season. Absolutely rotten. That said, plenty of credit to Claude Puel and Leicester for a fine away performance - a very comfortable and enjoyable win

Ever so comfortable. Played lovely football and controlled the game. Even if Newcastle weren’t at the races. We didn’t have to get out of second gear.

Excellant performance from all the boys in what will most certainly be their easiest 3 points away from home this season. A passing masterclass, disciplined  midfield and defence. Whats not to like. Oh and we are above Man Ure in the league.

Strong, resolute performance. Cannot complain at all with the way the team performed. Not to say it was entirely perfect as some of the passing was a bit underwhelming but in terms of controlling the game, the game management, discipline of the side and professionalism, that's a very good win.

Mendy & Maguire were superb I thought. Both controlled their areas of the pitch and the latter with his goal was deserved. Mendy's work-rate is so valuable in this line-up. Didn't give Shelvey or any other midfielders of theirs time to dictate the game. Ndidi was better today, too.

 

Turned out to be a comfortable win in a game where sometimes we'd let it slip against this kind of opposition. Three points, clean sheet. Up to 7th for now in the league. I'm satisfied!

Quoting myself from the match thread at half time because the same thing applies at full time. Really solid performance, I didn't think for a second in that second half that we were coming away with any less than 3 points, we just completely controlled the game.

 

Get used to seeing games like this under Puel as it's how even his title winning teams in France operated. Get the goals, keep possession, control the game and pick up points consistently. Absolute text book performance today and from the youngest team in the league.

 

For me the biggest differences this season compared to last are the additions of Mendy and Maddison in the team. Neither one is a superstar but they are great at doing their jobs. Mendy runs the game in the middle of the park and was my personal MOTM today. Not everything he does comes off, but he is just super solid, keeps the ball ticking over and controls the game. This is perfect for James Maddison who then takes over in the opposition half, is always looking up, linking the play and making things happen. We've lost one of our best ever players in Mahrez, but we are better as a team because these guys improve everyone else around them. 

 

That type of performance might only have been a 7 or 7.5 / 10 but it was super professional and the result never in doubt. If we play like that every game, we will probably finish where we are now - 7th. And with our young team we will only get better.

I would like to hear Puel getting some credit from the 'outers'.  What I find weird, is that they take a position and defend it come what may.  

 

Everyone makes mistakes.  I thought that Mendy wouldn't make it here for instance.  The difference is that I am pleased that he is doing well and pleased to be wrong.  Judging by the match thread, it's as if many of the Puel outers have backed themselves into a corner and won't change.

Back 5 were absolutely solid. Thought Amartey and Morgan did very well, Maguire clear MOTM though. Iborra was brilliant when he came on at the end too.

I’m very impressed. I had a few doubts about the selection pre match but at the end of the day I’ve being doing my job all week while Puel has spent the week training the players. If he thinks that is the best team to give us 3 points then we need to trust him and ignore personal opinions on certain players. We will lose games but that happens, we have such a young team and I am starting to really appreciate what Puel is doing for the long term success of our club. We won’t be looking to drop £30m on a lb or £50m on a creative CM in a few years cos hopefully we will still have our own. I appreciate Newcastle we’re horrific but a 2-0 away win in the premier league should not be taken for granted if you are Man U/Chelsea/Man City let alone Leicester!

I dont believe we will get an easier game than that all season. Newcastle were totally gutless and we didnt get out of 3rd gear all game.

Of the teams above only really Watford could be seen as a team we "should be better than".  Not sure which of Man City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal people think we should be ahead of?  I get that some people prefer the way we used to play and I understand we have not yet looked truly great this season but honestly, why on Earth some people seem so negative at the moment is beyond me.  If I were a more cynical person I would think that some people sagged Puel off so much that that are now in a position where they are so painfully insecure about their own standing in life that rather than admit they were wrong to be so harsh so soon they would rather just keep peddling the same weird drivel.  It's like when Keegan just kept saying Leonardo's elbow was not a foul because he was too weak to hold his hands up and say he had made a mistake.  Humility is a strength not a weakness.  I am wrong all the time but at least I admit it.  I once had highlighted curtains and a step cut.  I can admit it made me look a cvnt.  X

Managed to watch the second half on a choppy stream.

 

Very comfortable, a clean sheet, more positive performances from certain players.

 

Newcastle were poor, they have too many Championship quality players.

 

Bournemouth loss aside, we're beating the teams we should be beating, positive performances against Man Utd and Liverpool too, can't complain, it's looking decent at the minute.
